Timothy was the first to arrive home. He had worked very hard that day making certain that the offices that they were going to move to were ready and that everything was lined up with IT for the computers to be online for Monday. He had also phoned the construction company to make certain that there were no delays. He realized when he talked to them that the company was not going to do anything that would displease one of the largest law firms in the city.

So it looked as if they were ready for the big adventure. His staff and he had scheduled no afternoon meetings on Friday so that they could move and help Mme. Chenier with her move. She had been quite touched at their consideration.

Timothy smiled when Jeremy appeared with some takeout food saying that neither would want to cook that night. They looked at each other when Timothy presented the food that he had brought home.

Jeremy chuckled. "OK, great minds think alike ?."

Timothy smiled, "And fools seldom differ. Well at least we have food for tonight and tomorrow. Your choice which we eat tonight. Actually, yours is probably warmer and fresher. I have been home for about 20 minutes."

So they had Jeremy's Chinese food which was delicious. They chatted over the food about the days events. As they chatted, they both looked out the large window they had installed in the kitchen. They were now looking at the deck that still had the wonderful table that Momma and Pops had given them. They felt so happy with their decision to buy and renovate their home. They made a mental note to move the set indoors before the snow came.

Present

Later that night, Jeremy phoned his dads to ask them if they thought that it would be appropriate to have a Christmas get together at their home with the family as part of the Christmas celebration. It was decided that Philipo would speak to Pops and try and find out if Momma would mind them taking over part of Christmas. The guys had suggested a light meal before going to mass with the family on Christmas Eve. The family was growing and it was becoming harder for Momma to do it all. Timothy would talk to his mother about the same thing. The guys wanted to share Christmas with each family but they wanted them to be together as much as possible.

Then they started on their plans for a New Years party at the house. Jeremy vaguely remembered Jamie saying that for their first effort, the party list just kept on growing and so it was with them: family, their football team, people at their work, friends from University and people from the club. They were going to give out invitations personally if they could, letting people know that it was a drop by or stay for the evening type of party, spouses and partners invited. They started in the last week of November inviting people with a card and a personal contact when possible.

Philipo and Jamie dropped over one night to talk about Christmas. It turned out that Momma was really pleased at their suggestion. She wanted to do the after church party on Christmas Eve. The dads suggested that the supper before church would be at the guys' place but that Jamie and Philipo would be co-hosts and they would organize the liquor and the food between the four of them. As it turned out, Timothy's mother and father along with MC and family would love to join them. The Malenfants did ask for Christmas dinner at their place just as a family. The guys decided that they would alternate between the two families yearly for Christmas dinner. Timothy had looked at his guy and told him, a job well done. New traditions were being established.

The week passed quickly. They bought cards and started to invite people to the New Years Eve party. They put their office parties in their calendars. His law firm's party was a sit down dinner and then some dancing. Luckily it did not coincide with the The Accountants buffet and dance; it looked as if the Accountants would be a bit more lively than the other. No matter, they would attend both and they decided that they would dance at both. Everyone in the firm knew that Timothy was gay and it didn't seem to matter to anyone. In fact, their life had settled down to a pattern and rhythm that they both enjoyedd. Football was over but they kept up their workout schedules and felt great.

They managed to get to church with the family the week after they arrived back. Neither were prepared for the welcome that they received. Momma was at the top of the stairs looking at the guys intently as they walked up together. Her first words, "My wonderful grandsons. Your faces are looking better. I am so proud of you. Pops and I love your idea of a small meal at your place on Christmas Eve. I never dreamed that my two grandsons would help take over the family traditions." She grabbed the two of them and hugged them hard. There were tears in her eyes. Once again Jeremy realized that she was his rock. They certainly kept church on Sunday and lunch with Momma and Pops as part of their weekly routine.

Everything went smoothly except for one event. Timothy had gone down each afternoon at work to look at what had been accomplished that day on the renovations. After the first week, he was very pleased. They had basically finished the conference room and were putting the finishing touches on the areas where they had had to open the wall up for new, modern cabling. As Timothy had said, they should be as prepared as possible for the next advances in technology. They would start the painting next week and would install carpet in each office as it was finished. He had arranged for the new desks, filing cabinets etc. to be put in as soon as a room was finished. It would mean a very quick transition when the entire office was completed.

The offices were finished and furnished; they looked great. It was the morning of the next Tuesday that his phone rang. It was Mme. Chenier in a panic. "Mr. Malenfant they are about to install the wrong carpet in the main office. Everything is good in the offices. The foreman is trying to bully me. He says that this is the carpet that we ordered. It is not!"

He trusted her totally. "Stand in front of the carpet and don't move. Sit on it if you have to. I am coming with the files." She chuckled.

Luckily, he had insisted that all samples and copies of the sent work orders were kept on his desk in his temporary office. He picked up the file folder. He virtually ran to their office area. What a sight! Mme Chenier in a stand off with the big, burly foreman. She was sitting on the huge role of carpet that had been partially rolled out. It was not the colour that they had ordered. He came in as there was a verbal confrontation between Mme. Chenier and the foreman. The poor guy didn't know what he was up against.

In French, "Madame, I cannot help it if you ordered the wrong the carpet. This is the one that you ordered." He spoke in the local, working class accent.

"Monsieur, I assure that if a mistake was made and it was at your firm." Said in her very rich French "Ah there is my manager. You can deal with him. Good luck!"

As soon as she stood up, the guy started to unroll the carpet. The foreman had looked at Timothy as if he were a kid who knew nothing. Timothy was thinking very quickly. I am the boss. He is working for us. In his best school yard French, he walked quickly to the roll of carpet as Mme Chenier retreated. As he knelt down in front of the roll. Quietly but with determination, "Let's just take a look at our samples and orders."

"No, this is the carpet that we are laying."

Timothy slowly but carefully spread out the folder on the carpet roll so that it could not be moved. It was labeled RugSamples/Orders. Each order had its own file folder. An internal thank you to Mme. Chenier for her organization. The foreman stood with his arms crossed fuming with anger.

"Here is the sample for the main office and here is our order. Note that it is very different and ?." He searched for the sample number and name of the rug and the corresponding number and name on the order that they had ordered.

"As I figured, look we ordered a very different carpet and here is the sample and work order which is correct for that carpet. I am not moving until this is settled with your office. Someone has made a mistake. Mme. Chenier would you get the name and order number on the rug that they are trying to install."

She called it out. It had a different name and number than their order which had been confirmed by the construction firm.

Timothy stood up and carefully explained and showed the foreman all the documents in his demanding, school yard French. The guy looked disgusted. As the foreman turned away, Timothy heard him mutter 'fucking lawyers'.

Timothy looked at him as he, himself, started to roll the carpet back up. "You can leave now," he paused, "unless you have other work that you can do today. I expect a crew back tomorrow with the correct carpet as it must be in your warehouse because it was ordered. I want this office up and working by the day after tomorrow. And yes I am a fucking lawyer and this fucking lawyer is part of a firm that spends a lot of bucks with your firm." He smiled not very sweetly. "Mme. Chenier would you get our contact at the construction firm on the phone for me. I think that I need a little chat with them about certain matters."

The foreman called his crew together and told them to pack up for the day. They left not very pleased. Timothy took his time as he inspected each office carefully for the job that had been done. Again he was very pleased with how good everything looked. By the time he arrived, Mme. Chenier was holding out the telephone to him. He took it and sat down in a chair.

He listened for a minute. Then he interrupted the person. "Let's get this straight. Yes, I stopped your men from laying the carpet. My exact words that if they had other jobs they could do, they could do them otherwise they were to leave. You delivered the wrong carpet to our office for the main room. The name and numbers don't match to our confirmed order printout. Yes I want that crew or another crew tomorrow to finish the job with the correct carpet; it must be in the warehouse. The job must be complete by Thursday. If you send the same foreman, I want an apology to our receptionist/organizer Mme. Chenier. I don't care what he thinks of me or what I did. Do you understand me? Thank you. We shall be here tomorrow to see that the job is finished. By the way, the conference room and the other offices were done very well. I want my staff in them by late Thursday or Friday morning at the latest."

He smiled at Mme. Chenier who was looking at him in awe and he went back to his office to decompress. His next call was to the head of their Services department and he gave her a detailed description as to what had happened. She laughed and said that she was getting to know and appreciate him more and more. She thanked him for handling the matter himself and told him that she owed him one.

Later in the day, he came down to see Mme. Chenier. As he neared her office, he heard her talking to John Lacroix. "There are days and today is one of them when I thank the powers that be that Mr. Malenfant came to our office. You should have seen him this morning. He just took control. Used his worst, working class French with the foreman. I am certain that he would have taken him on physically. The poor guy didn't have a chance. Then he took on the office staff at the construction company. They didn't have a chance either."

John started to laugh. "Yes, we have seen that a few times. Have you seen the offices? They are incredible. I really like that we had our own choice of furniture. I love my desk. I guess that we start the move late tomorrow. I have already put a few things in my office. So has Andrew."

"My furniture goes in tomorrow and then we all move in late Thursday afternoon. We should be up and running by early Friday. The IT guys are coming in when we go home early on Thursday. I can hardly wait to get the pictures hung. It is going to be so pleasant to come into the office."

Timothy turned around and left the area. He didn't want to embarrass anyone. He was pleased to hear that his time as Head had been accepted and even appreciated.

Needless to say, the same crew came back, laid the correct rug well. Timothy had been there putting stuff in his new office when they arrived to work. He left as they laid it. When he was called down to inspect the work, the entire area was clean and looking really good. Mme. Chenier was with him. Timothy looked at the foreman and motioned with his head that the foreman was to talk to Mme. Chenier. Timothy moved quickly to his new office to leave an armful of file folders on his new desk. He started filing them. By the time, he was finished the foreman and Mme. Chenier were talking amiably and she was telling him what a good job they had done.

Later in the day, all Mme. Chenier's new furniture and computer were brought down. Their office area looked spectacular. It would be finished off with new pictures which he left entirely to Mme. Chenier's very good taste. Their Services Department would do the actual work under her supervision. She had already brought several pictures to the area. They were going to look stunning.

As part of their renovation, Timothy had managed to get an Nespresso machine and a single capsule coffee maker with a good choice of coffees for the main office. He took back his machine for his own office. The new furniture that they had bought for the coffee and some other things that needed to be stored looked really good. Of course, Mme. Chenier had set it up so that it looked professional and elegant.

They all arrived early on Friday. Timothy turned on his computer and he was connected. He went immediately to his calendar to see his scheduled clients. They were up and running. By the end of the day, each person had come in to tell how much they liked their new office. Andrew had used the conference room for a family meeting.

At 4:45, John poked his head into Timothy's office. "Have minute boss?"

Timothy smiled and nodded yes. "Boss, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for everything, both for all your work here and the personal support that you have given me." He stopped Timothy's attempted reply. "No boss. I owe you a lot. Jason and I are getting on really well. I put off telling my parents in October. Never seemed to the right time. Yeah, when is the right time? You were so busy in early November that I didn't want to take up your time. Just before you went to Boston, I finally sat down with my family; I figured that I had to do it before the Christmas season. Mom was OK. Dad not so much. I finally asked them to have Jason and me over for supper to really meet him and see the great guy he was. Best decision that I have made. Dad was amazed at his job and his love of sports." He smiled. "I just wanted to give you an update. I bent your ear quite a few times after you took over."

"John, I am so pleased with your news. I decided early on that I would not going to ask any questions. It wasn't my business and I wanted you to tell me when you felt that you were ready. Great news. I hope that we shall see the two of you sometime on New Years Eve."

"We have decided to attend your party. We are going to visit some of Jason's friends and then go to yours. We are really looking forward to it." He was one of the first to give a positive response. William and Marie had already said that they were coming. They had really bonded with them in Boston.

The first party was Timothy's law firm in the second weekend of December. Timothy figured that it would be a fairly sedate affair. Little did he know some of the surprises that awaited him and Jeremy. They had decided on a suit that would look good with a tie on or off. Timothy had told him that almost everyone wore a good dress suit but jackets and ties came off as the night moved on.

They arrived at the hotel. The room they had was really well decorated and the ambiance was quite good. The firm had taken the new laws on responsible drinking at the firm's party seriously. In advance, all staff members had been given 2 drink tickets or 4 for a couple. There would be enough wine at each table for a couple of glasses of wine each. Then it was pay as you go and everyone was warned about the new laws in a memo enclosed with the tickets. They were warned that lost tickets were not replaceable. Timothy liked the business like attitude of the senior partners.

The two guys could have been poster boys for the firm. Each were dressed in a tailored suit that fitted them perfectly with a beautiful matching tie. They had had their hair cut days before for the holiday season and they looked great. There were several glances from the some of the females on staff but clearly the guys were together and off limits to the young ladies. They saw Mme. Chenier and her husband sitting at their table with Andrew and Jennifer. Quick two kisses on the cheek to Mme. Chenier and a hearty handshake to Andre Chenier. He was soon in enthusiastic conversation with the two guys about football (soccer). He followed the English Premier League as did the guys on occasion. He was surprised at how well the guys spoke French.

Timothy looked up to see an almost sheepish John arriving with Jason. It was John's first time 'out' with his guy. There were a couple of unbelieving looks from some of the females that said one less guy they could dance with. They went to the bar for a drink and came back to conversation around the table. His team was all praise for how he had managed to have the renovations done and the almost seamless out of their offices and back into their stunning new offices. Timothy kept on saying that they were a team and everyone played a big role. Jeremy could see how the staff looked up to his guy. He saw that they recognized him as their boss but they admired him as well.

Dinner was excellent. As the tables were being rearranged for the dancing. Timothy looked at his guy. "OK, the part I warned you about. Schmooze with the partners. First was Mr. Rushworth who had interviewed him for his new position. Again a man very proud of his choice. Timothy looked and saw the senior partner who had the largest number of shares and in effect owned the firm. He was coming towards them. Jeremy nudged Jeremy and whispered 'most senior partner incoming'.

Jeremy stifled his laugh and looked questioningly at the man as he arrived. He had in tow a very good looking guy his own age. "Timothy, I am so glad to see you here. Is this the guy that I have heard about from all the young ladies?"

Timothy smiled "Yes sir, Jeremy, my partner."

Solid handshake, "Gentleman, my partner Mathew but we all call him Matt. In case, Timothy hasn't mentioned my name, James." He paused looking at Jeremy. "Jeremy you looked familiar to me."

With a shrug, "Don't know why sir." Thinking for a second, "My dads are clients here."

"Dads. What's your last name?"

"Marchese-Milner."

James started to laugh. "You were in with James and Philip when they had just taken you in. My, but you have developed. Have you followed either of your dads in your career?"

"Yes, I am now Assistant Head of the Forensic Division at the Accountants."

"Forensic accounting, have you met Michael Burtchell by chance?"

It was Jeremy's turn to laugh. "I worked last year at his firm to complete my CPA and I was at a Conference in Boston in November where Michael and I presented a case study together and then I did a short presentation by myself the next day which he attended. We went for supper and dancing with him and Stephen on the Saturday night."

"Impressive. I met Michael years ago when he was starting his career. He helped us solve a case for a firm that I was working with. I could see then that he was bright and going places. We took him out dancing that Friday and he met Stephen. Small world. I have not seen him for quite while."

Timothy took over having looked at Jeremy. "Mr. Steadman, Michael has told us that he is coming to our New Years Eve party around 8:30 for a little while before he and Stephen go elsewhere. Why don't you come and see him? I'll drop an invitation around to you next week. We have told everyone that they can come and go or stay. By the way, the dads will be there too for a while."

"Timothy what a pleasure. Now, it is time to dance." He turned to Matt, "Let's show these guys what we can do."

They all walked to the dance floor and each couple did show everyone watching what they could do. Timothy saw John look at Jason, talk a bit. They were soon on the floor. This was the party that Timothy had not expected. My god thought Timothy, they had invited the senior party to their New Eve Party. It appeared that he was coming. Well enjoy this evening. Later he danced with Mme. Chenier and Jennifer. Lots of laughs. They had a really good time. By the end, with jackets and ties off, the guys were dancing closely together slowly and sensuously. Both had a dreamy far off look on their faces. Everyone looking could tell how they felt about each other.

Hours later they had just stepped inside their home. Timothy looked at his guy.

Jeremy, "What?"

"What? You were almost a tease on the dance floor during that last dance. Almost indecent."

"Is that a complaint?"

"I'll show you."

Timothy grabbed him and kissed him passionately. His hand just happened to go very quickly down his body to his package. "As I thought, you are already half way there."

They quickly turned off the lights and were in their bedroom. "Shit, did I do the right thing inviting the boss for New Years Eve?"

"He looked interested; I think that he does want to see our place and meet Michael. He could have made up an excuse and may still after we give him an invitation. You know, unexpected things turn up, looked at their schedule and a bit tight. He IS A LAWYER; he could come up with a hundred excuses."

Timothy sputtered his protest. Jeremy smirked at him. Timothy spun his guy around pulled his pants and shorts down and smacked his ass.

Jeremy started to laugh. "You do realize that turns me on."

"Yeah, a little breeze turns you on!" Jeremy got several more harder smacks.

Timothy turned him back to see a very hard, red cock moving up and down. His hands went to the cock and his lips to his guy's lips. He kissed Jeremy hard, invading his mouth. Tongue on tongue dueling for supremacy. It was a draw as Jeremy pulled back. Jeremy looked at his guy, took off his shirt then his pants and shorts. "There we are even. Come on Mr. Malenfant, we have unfinished business."

Their time on the dance floor had left each of them wanting more. More is what they got. It was not gentle and easy. It was hard, passionate love making. There would be marks on their shoulders where they bit the other. There would be scratches on their backs. Nipples might be red and inflamed. Timothy had lay on the bed begging his guy to take him. Jeremy had smiled and told him only if they changed position half way through. He added no cheating and no finishing before they changed. So after one very strenuous session, Jeremy had pulled out and lay beside Timothy.

For some reason, that changed the mood. Timothy raised himself on his arm and elbow and stared intensely into his guy's eyes." A wonderful night. You were so good with Mr. Steadman. John finally danced in public with Jason and you danced with me as if we were one."

As he followed his guy's order, Timothy leaned down and kissed Jeremy gently. This was going to be different. As they kissed, Timothy started his slow rhythm in, stopped for a second when he was all the way in to feel the sensations around him and then a slow out sometimes stopping to go back forth over the spot. Then stopping at the entrance encouraging Jeremy to use his muscles to message him. Jeremy put his legs over Timothy's back and then let his hands just brush over Timothy's nipples. Then taking them in his fingers, he could see Timothy close his eyes and catch his breath several times as Jeremy increased the pressure. Timothy sped up and suddenly was calling out. "Jeremy, Jeremy" with quick breaths. When all his pulses stopped, Jeremy pulled him down and kissed him.

In an instant, Timothy was on his back with legs separated and bent. "Jeremy take me hard and fast."

That is what Jeremy did and within a minutes, Timothy could feel the final thrust and feel Jeremy go rigid. When he felt Jeremy's body relax, smiling, Timothy pulled him down for a final kiss.

Both guys were pleased as they had been invited to some local neighbourhood parties. The one that surprised them the most was their invitation to Frederick White's home for a get together for most of the neighbours on their street. They met Frederich's 17 year old son, Nicholas, who did a lot of the serving and refilling drinks. He was a sturdy, good looking young man. Jeremy thought that it was shame that he was at home on a Saturday before Christmas as help for his parents. They talked to him for bit until he had to take some savouries out of the oven. They mixed and mingled and only had to explain their relationship to a couple of questioning neighbours. Outwardly, they saw no problems from their reactions. They seemed more impressed with their jobs and their renovations.

The party at the Accountants was different with a younger crowd and both guys enjoyed the time with William, Marie, Heather and Robert. Peter was with them for supper but left to see others after Paula had brought her husband and they had a great evening.

Later in the evening while they were sitting taking a break, Jeremy had touched Timothy pointing over to the dance floor. Jamie and Philipo were dancing together. It was a slow dance. When they turned, Jeremy could see Philipo with his eyes closed with a dreamy look on his face. Jamie had slowed and pulled slightly away smiling lovingly at his partner of so many years.

Timothy had put his hand down on Jeremy's thigh. "That's what you want years from now? We'll make it work. Let's join them on the floor." Jeremy nodded yes to the question and to the suggestion. Hand in hand, they walked to where Jamie and Philipo were dancing and started to dance beside them. Jamie looked at Jeremy who muttered that he was following his two great role models. Jamie's look was worth it. He said something to Philip who turned and muttered, "You two remind us so much of what we were like 7 years ago."

That was almost the highlight of their evening. An hour later, they were saying goodbye to everyone at their table. As one of the owners and virtually a Head of Department, Jeremy stayed to the end giving well wishes and seasons greetings not only to his staff but others that he knew and some he only knew in passing. Jamie watched his son take control and realized what a leap in confidence and stature his guy, his son, had made since their conversation on the beach at Thanksgiving only months before. (Unexpected: Five Years On 26). He was convinced that Jeremy was ready for the next big step in his life at The Accountants. Little did either know that that step was only one of two big steps that Jeremy would make. Perhaps there were even three.

On the way out, Jeremy thought that they had navigated the parties and social events successfully and now they would enjoy Christmas and then be ready for their big party at New Years. He and Timothy were surprised at the number of people who were coming to stay the evening but they were also pleasantly surprised by the number coming and leaving early. They had had very few out right refusals. It was going to be a big party. He sighed in pleasure. He sighed for some other reasons a little later after the lights were turned off downstairs at home.

I have had some feedback from some readers who were trying to read some of my previous stories. If you go to Authors on Nifty and find my name, when you try to access Surprised Eric and Dave from the Authors list, it doesn't connect to anything. Surprised Graham and Robert is just not there. If you want to read them, use the date and category, Adult-Friends or Beginnings etc. and go the appropriate category and date and they are there and active.

If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have published on Nifty. In particular, my first story, Unexpected Change which has had the most positive comments and one of my other favourites, What a Difference a Year Makes.
