Along about 5 Karl and I got up and took a quick shower and then headed over to his house for supper with his family. Gert had made a small birthday cake for me and the six of us polished it off as well.

It was about 8 when Karl and I got in my Triumph and headed out to Mannys. Because I was driving I made sure to stick to non alcoholic beer. There were a few familiar faces around, but like Karl had thought, we had gotten out earlier than a lot of schools.

Dirk showed up with a bunch of his friends and just wished me a happy birthday and a Merry Christmas. Pete had even shown up here tonight and he spent a little time with us.

"Hey Pete, just so you know, I've finally gotten my memory back."

"Outstanding! So does that mean you have some scores to settle or what?"

"No scores to settle, accept maybe with Aaron and that isn't anything major. Just some pranks to get even over and I'm not even that hot on those."

"We still heading back a week from Saturday?"

"Yeah that's still the plan."

"Ok, I'll check with you guys later. I see somebody I want to catch up with."

"Ok Later."

Some of the people from Rolands party a year ago came by as well. Paul and Gene both who had been friends for some time were both glad to hear that my memeory was back.

A bit later Tony slid into our booth and slipped an arm around me. Karl just gave him a bit of a look.

"I just heard you got your memory back Den. Do you remember what you once promised me?"

"Yes, that if you ever committed to being gay that I would spend a night with you. Have you?"

"I have. Do you remember Erick Landau?"

"As a matter of fact I do, but I always thought he was straight and really didn't like gays at all."

"Does the phrase 'I think he does protest to much' have any meaning for you?"

"So he's gay and you and he are together?"

"For the time being at least. It was quite the scene when he finally admitted it, and a night I don't think either one of us will ever forget. So, much as I'd like to keep you to your promise, it was made before you and Karl were engaged. I'm not going to hold you to it. Which begs the question, when are you guys going to tie the knot?"

"Still up in the air Tony, and I'll thank you to unhand my fiance."

"Chill Karl. I just wanted to say hi and that I'll be looking for my invite."

Tony gave me a quick peck on the cheek and took off.

"When we do tie the knot Den, are we going to keep it simple or go for 'the big white wedding'?"

"If my parents were still alive, mom would probably have insisted we have it the way it was planned before, fairly elaborate if I recall. I'm thinking it's going to fall somewhere in between. I know Aaron is still looking forward to being the best man. Beyond that, I'll think we'll plan it our way. Maybe we can get Roland to help us."

"Oh hell no! Roland will have us with sequened tuxes and 101 white doves being released."

"He's not that bad and you know it. It's a job for him now and he would have to be professional about it."

It wasn't just the guys around tonight as Alice came over and wanted a dance with me and Judy snagged Karl as well.

We stayed until about 11 and then we walked out to the car and given the door incident I did a quick check before we headed home.

Once we got the car into the garage, I went around the house and checked all of the doors an windows and when I got to my room Karl was already stripped and lying in bed.

"Come and get your birthday present lover."

The sun was up and so were we as we headed out for our run with the guys.

Soon enough we were back at the house and before we went in to shower and have breakfast I pulled both cars out of the garage and to the far side of the driveway.

We had eaten and changed before the crew showed up to take care of the garage door. One guy started taping off the windows and a couple of them went to work with some paint remover. A couple of hours later and they were repainting the door and by 4 in the afternoon they were all cleaned up and pulling out of the driveway after telling me to try not to open the doors until at least the following day.

I wasn't to keen on leaving the cars outside overnight, but I had little choice unless I wanted to ruin all the work the crew had done today. I made sure they were locked up before going into the house.

Tonight Karl and I ate at my house and Mrs Ohanlon had made us a simple meatloaf with au grautin potatos and mixed vegtables. We spent the early evening just relaxing together as we both knew tomorrow night, Christmas eve, was going to be spent carolling.

The usual 5:45 alarm and we were out to meet Aaron and Roland. We were down the street and to the park, our laps done and on our way back to the house. It was pretty usual to hear and see traffic coming in both directions and we usually didn't pay it any mind. This morning I heard a car go into heavy acceleration and then there were a couple of impacts to my back.

"GET DOWN!

I hit the ground and saw the others dive as well. My back was stinging but I didn't think that I had any actual wounds. Karl was right there and checking me over.

"Paintball rounds, lime green. You're probably going to have some gorgeous bruises love."

Aaron could be seen with his phone out and talking and a few minutes later I could hear a siren heading in our direction.

Dana Pembrose quickly pulled up.

"Dennis ! What the hell?"

I just stood up and showed him my back.

"That could have been for real. You piss off anybody new?"

"Not that I know of."

"Did you see the car?"

"No I hit the pavement when I felt the impacts. Sounded like a heavier car though, as opposed to a sports car or small sedan. The engine had more of a growl to it."

"I can tell you it was black and 4 doors, but not the make or model."

"Thank you Mr Harker. I was already headed to your house Dennis. Mrs O hanlon called us again. Seems these same guys attacked your cars and she found them when she pulled in."

"So that means it's somebody who knows the schedule around the house and that the cars were hit today of all days, indicates that this is probably the same guy who hit the garage doors. Let's get to the house and see if the cameras picked up anything."

Dana went ahead and all of us were quickly at the house. The way the cars had been hit, the people would have had to come up from the street at least a little bit.

We went into the house and started to check the cameras. Apparently, it was the same figure that had been captured before. Definately left handed, and this time a bit of skin showed, revealing that it was a white person.

"Not much help is it?"

"Apparently not but once again burn me a copy and we'll see if the lab boys can do anything with it. Only good thing is I believe that most of those paintball loads are water based paint. A little elbow grease should get the cars cleaned up."

"Well, guess I know how I'm spending a good portion of my day."

"I'll be helping you Den."

"Breakfast first boyos."

Aaron and Roland beat it back to their own houses and Karl and I had breakfast. No need to take a shower now, so we changed into some "working" clothes and went to work on both cars. It took us several hours until I was satisfied that the cars were both clean enough and I moved them back into the garage. After lunch we headed over to Karls house for a litte rehearsal before we had to head out for caroling.

Bobbie and Connie showed up and we rehearsed for a good couple of hours until Stan rolled in from work.

"Well dad?"

"Same as last year."

The three simblings just kind of groaned a bit. That meant we were going back to Rustic Acres again. I didn't really mind all that much, except for the apparent condition of the place. So what if the clients had a bit of life left in them? I hoped I had as much life at their age.

"We leaving at 6 Stan?"

"As usual Dennis."

"Ok then I'll see you then."

I went over to my house and grabbed my shower and then had a light supper.

This year I had picked up a little something for Mrs Ohanlon and I gave it to her as she was headed out the door.

"Merry Christmas Mrs Ohanlon."

"Ya should not 'ave boyo."

"Go home and enjoy your family. I'll see you the day after tomorrow."

"Merry Christmas boyo."

Aaron showed up a few minutes later and once I made sure the house was locked up we headed over to Karls.

"Alright then let's get this show on the road."

We were out the front door and piled into the van.

First stop was the Carter Assisted Care Center, where we were warmly welcomed. We made out presentation and socialized for a bit and then we were on to the Bennet Retirement Home.

It was another warm reception and we again made our presentation and again a bit of socializing.

The van was decidedly quiet as we made out way over to Rustic Acres. When we pulled into their lot there was a "for Sale" sign at the end of the drive.

Stan stopped the van before we got to the door and turned around and looked at me.

"Don't say it Stan. I might just do it in spite of your opinion."

"Just don't go making any promises is all I ask."

"That I can do."

We went in and were swarmed by the residents and the expected pinches to various cheeks were made before we had a chance to perform for the folks. We again spent extra time socializing with the clients as this was our last stop. I even took the time to dance with a couple of the more spry ladies.

Eventually we headed home and Karl and I slept in his room as we both knew that nothing was going to happen under the tree until we were all up and together.

It seemed far to early when Stan knocked on the door.

"Come along boys. Everybodies waiting."
