I had intended to go to the gym for a workout but I headed back to the dorm to wait to hear from Stan. I didn't like the way things were feeling. I tried to get some work done but my mind wasn't really on it.

I heard Gordon arrive back in his room along with Aiden. As much as I wanted to go over and support them, I didn't want to be with them when Mr Bellows called back. I didn't need them worrying about me on top of everything else.

Soon enough though there was a knock at my door. It could very well have been Karl by this time but it wasn't. It was Aiden and Gordon.

"Come on in guys."

"Dennis, what have you heard from your business?"

"Only that my general manager is paddling with both hands. You guys don't need to worry about me or my business. We can always build our client list up again if it comes to that."

"But it's not fair Den! You didn't make me gay and shouldn't have to pay for my mistakes."

I took Gordon by the shoulders and looked him straight in the eyes.

"Don't you EVER let me hear you say that again! Who you love is NOT a mistake, be it man or woman, it is never a mistake."

Gordon stood there wide eyed as I spoke to him. Likely he had never heard that particular tone in my voice before. I could see he was scared so I just gave him a gentle hug. Aiden was right there on the other side of him giving him a hug as well.

"You two go be good to each other for now and we'll see about supper in a bit."

"I don't think I could keep anything down Den."

"Well you're going to have to try Gordon, even if it ends up only being soup. Now get. I'll let you know what I hear from the business I promise."

They both pulled themselves together and left my room just as Pete and Karl were coming in.

"Have you heard lover?"

"Only from the lawyers at this point. According to Mr Jacobs, neither of them have a legal leg to stand on. The only word from the business was that Stan was paddling just as fast as he could. I expect it will be about another hour before I hear from him. Supper is going to have to wait."

"I can deal with that. How were those guys?"

"Worried about me and the business, amongst other things. I sent them off to be good to each other."

The next hour dragged on in an awkward silence until my phone rang. The id was Stans.

"Give it to me straight Stan, and you're on speaker as I have several very worried friends here with me."

"Not as bad as it could have been Dennis. Bartlett did pull his accounts and I've been feilding questions from a fair portion of our clients all day. Seems Mr Bartlett has been running his mouth about you being gay and that being a perversion nobody in their right mind should be doing business with us. I told our clients that you were not actively involved with the business at this time. I also told them that even if you were that was no reason to withdraw their funds from a company that has continually offered them the best advice and return on their investment that we possibly can. Bottomline is we lost a few but we aren't really going to hurt from it."

"Thanks Stan. That's just what I needed to hear. One less problem for me to worry about."

"You just work on your grades Dennis. We've go it under control here. Have a good night."

"You too Stan and thanks again for keeping an eye on things."

I hung up and I could see that Karl and Pete were both breathing a bit easier.

"So do we find Gordon and Aiden and go and get some supper or what?"

"How about supper and or what?"

"I don't think those two will be up for any or what for a couple of days at least. Where to for supper?"

"Food court at the mall?"

"Sounds fine to me. Let's go find the other two as I promised them word on the business when I got it."

I tried Gordons room first as it was right next door and only found his roomie there. We all trooped down to Aidens room and found them there.

"Ok first things first. The business is fine according to my general manager. We're headed out to the food court. You guys coming with?"

"I think we'll just stay here Den. Neither one of us is very hungry."

"Ok suit yourselves."

We went down and I checked the car over before we all piled in and went out to the mall. The food court wasn't all that busy here on a Monday, even if it was officially the Christmas season.

We all got ourselves something to eat and when we were finished, the toy store across the way caught my eye.

"Shit Den you aren't going to pull the same stunt this year are you?"

"No, not quite the same stunt. I'm thinking multiple trips and one or two a trip. Same result without the noteriety."

"Then no time like the present I guess."

We all walked over to the toy store and I let Karl and Pete help me select a couple of toys. It was through the checkout and the toys placed in the bin and then we were on our way back to campus.

Karl and I got our kiss after Pete had made his way into the dorm and I was soon back in our room. I hit the books for a bit and 11 had my phone buzz with Karls text. I sent mine back and soon enough was sacked out.

5:45 on this Tuesday and I rolled out of bed and slipped into my jogging stuff and downstairs. Aiden and Gordon were both waiting on me today and I was glad to see them out there. We started off and picked up Karl. Aiden made it almost three laps today before he was huffing and dropped out. We finished our laps and went inside for our showers and breakfast and then were off to class.

I had a mandatory practice this afternoon so it was over to the rec center after Historical Effects. The guys all looked fairly well rested after the long weekend and we did have a meet not this weekend but the next.

Everybody worked their routines including the guy who had broken his wrist. He was a little wobbly but got through the whole practice without too much trouble.

"Ok guys, not to bad at all. The next meet is away at Ashton University. It's about a 2 hour drive and we'll be leaving ASAP after classes a week from Friday. Plan for an all day practice on Saturday."

The usual groans were heard at that announcement. We all headed for the showers and for whatever reason, there wasn't any hesitation by the guys to be near me.

So back to the room and I waited for Karl to come over before we went downstairs for supper. We had our walk afterwards and our good night kiss. Then it was back to my room and the books until 11 and Karls usual message and mine sent back.

Wenesday went much the same except for a quick trip to the mall and a couple of more presents in the box, as well as a few things for Karl and the family.

I was just about back to the dorm when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Dana our team captain.

"Hey Dennis. Just wondering if you're going to organize buses for the away meet again?"

"Damn I hadn't given it a thought Dana. I've had a couple of other things on my mind. Yeah I'll post it up again. These guys at Ashton going to give us any trouble?"

"As far as giving us shit no,competition they might. They were tough last year but their best guys were senoirs so I don't know about any of their new talent for this year."

"Well I'll be there if needed."

"Ok, later Den."

I went into the dorm and up to my room and posted a sign up sheet to the buses once again. Soon Karl was there and we went down to supper. After we had eaten and taken our walk and had our kiss, I went back to my room and checked my email. People must have been waiting for me to post the signup sheet as I already had almost 80 people in just a couple of hours.

Thursday and Friday were both uneventful days and nights. Saturday saw me skipping the jogging to save myself for the all day practice.

9am found us all ready and waiting for the coach to show up. 9:15 rolled around and there was still no coach. Dana decided it was time to take over.

"Alright you guys you all know the routine. Let's stretch out and get to it until coach gets here. Dennis, until coach gets here I want you eyes open please."

"Sure thing."

Today Dana had them all work the same apparatus at the same time so that everybody could be watched on every station. It was different and threw the guys off a little but it did serve to get eyes on everyone.

It was well into the afternoon and Dean Evans made an appearance in the hall. He called Dana over for a bit of a conference

"Gather up guys! Dean Evans has some bad news here."

"Gentlemen, I'm sorry to say that Coach has had a death in his family and it's going to take him some time to get things sorted out. The upshot being that he won't be able to take you to Ashton. We don't have anybody else qualified to take you so it looks like you'll have to forfeit the meet."

Something I had heard at Manny's a week ago was trying to get my attention. You know how that is when there's an idea there just beyond the concious level. There was so much discussion going on that I just couldn't focus. We were dismissed and sent to the showers as it looked like there wouldn't be any meet for us.

I started back across campus to get to my dorm and Karl was out and about.

"Thought you had an all day practice?"

"It got called. Coach has a family emergency and won't be here to take us to the meet."

"They got nobody else?"

"Not according to Dean Evans."

"You mean to tell me there isn't a single qualified coach in the whole state that could be convinced to come out of retirement or whatever for one meet?"

Retirement? Retirement! That was it! I had heard somebody say coach Matthews, our old high school coach had been forced to retire due to some stupid clause in the towns contract with him.

"Karl you're brilliant!"

"I am?"

"Coach Matthews is state qualified. Do you suppose we could convince him to come out for one meet?"

"Damn I think he'd jump at the chance Den."

I saw Dean Evans walking across the campus and took off for him. I explained what I had in mind if it were acceptable to the college.

"I'll get back to you soonest Mr Sawyer."

A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!
