Bob just shook his head.

"I've no doubt in my mind that whatever this person has against you,it is largely in that persons mind."

"Again not something I can comment on. When there is something to be said Bob, I'll let you know."

"I'm holding you to that Dennis."

By now it was time to get over to Risk/Rewards. The class went along just fine and Mrs McCauley didn't have anything to say today, not that I was expecting her to.

So it was out to check the car over and then heading back to the apartment and getting something going for supper.

Karl got home at his usual time.

"So what news today Den?"

"Nothing at all. I mean even McEmbers had nothing to say after seeing the Dean last week. Seems the whole thing is getting to be common knowledge now though as Bob Watson stopped to talk to me today."

"And I'm sure it was no comment as usual?"

"It was."

"This is going to end up getting messy isn't it Den?"

"You mean it isn't already? All of my instructors are already involved, who knows how many students have said anything to Adams, Lord alone knows what Dean Evans is up to. It gets any messier and they are going to need one hell of a clean up crew."

"Not your worry lover. Let Adams dig his own grave. You still going to go to class tomorrow?"

"Yes of course. No need to give him extra ammunition to flunk me."

"Damn that sounds awfully defeatist Den."

"I have to prepare myself for the possibility."

"Bullshit! You are going to come out of this just fine. You don't beleive that and there isn't any use in even going to the class or back to the gymnastics."

I must have looked rather deflated or something as Karl quickly came and wrapped his arms around me.

"You have got to beleive Dennis. You got this and you will be at the all state and you will take the gold and you will pass you licensing exam."

"God I hope you're right Karl."

"Damn right I am. Now let's have our supper and then just relax."

Which is just what we did. Then it was to bed early and Karl did all he could to satisfy me and get me as relaxed as he could so that I could sleep tonight.

Tuesday morning and it started all over again. The jog was a grim thing this morning as nobody had aything to say. We got back to the apartment and Karl was soon off to his classes while I waited until it was time for the practicum.

When I did get to the room there was a notice posted that the room was closed and the practicum was to be held in lecture hall A. This was one of those "true" lecture halls that was teired and even had a gallery above. The gallery was dark today and only the main floor was illuminated.

Mr Adams came in and had the general discussion and then started on reviews. As usual mine was last. I started to approach Adams and he just grabbed his briefcase and left.

I could have sworn at that point that I heard something from the gallery, but nothing was visible. I left the room and went to the student union to get my lunch.

It must have been obvious to all of my friends that I wasn't in any mood to be bothered as not one of them stopped by to talk today. I seriously considered not going to practice, but I had told Jack that I would be there today.

I ended up heading over to practice and even went as far as to get changed up. All it took was for coach to get one good look at me.

"Not today Dennis."

"But coach..."

"I said not today. I can see it on your face that your mind isn't into this and I won't take the chance of you hurting yourself. If this thing passes and you can get your head straight then you can come back and practice. Don't make me suspend you Dennis. That would sure as hell put the whole damn team into a funk. You beat this and you'll have almost two weeks between the end of classes and the time we leave for the all state to get it together. I know every one of the guys will be here to help you all day every day if that is what it takes."

"If you explain to them why I'm not here today. I told one of the guys I'd be back here today regardless and I'd hate to appear a liar."

"That I can do. Why don't you go get a regular workout."

Which is what I did, and then I hit the pool for I don't know how long. When I got to the whirlpool there were a couple of the guys there.

"Dennis, you are going to beat this thing right?"

"I sure as hell hope so Ben."

"A couple of us have Adams for a class and he's being a dick. Think we should have words with the Dean?"

"No I do not. It looks like I'm trying to raise any kind of grief for him and that could well work against me. Not to mention what it might bring down on your own heads. Let the powers that be work their own avenues, and all I can do is trust the system."

"And what if the sysems broke Den?"

"Then I have to play the cards I'm dealt, even if that means having to repeat the whole damn certification program."

"Shit at most they'd likely only have you redo the practicum."

"I don't know for sure Jack, it being a certification and not a regular degree. Anyway that's something for me to worry about later, maybe."

"If any ideas do come to mind Dennis, you let us know."

"I will guys, but don't hold your breath waiting on them."

I was shortly on my way to the showers after that. I was headed out to my car when I saw Dean Evans heading in my direction.

"Ahhhh there you are Mr Sawyer. Thought I might find you here."

"Dean Evans, what can I do for you today?"

"I got a report a bit ago that Mr Adams walked out of class and left you standing there. Were you scheduled for a review today?"

"He did and I was. I'm usually the last one of the day if that makes any difference."

"It does not. I just needed to verify with you."

"Can I ask just what the blazes is going on here?"

"No I'm sorry Mr Sawyer I can't speak about it at this point."

"I understand sir. I assume I should keep on as if there was nothing going on?"

"You should. I have to get myself in gear right now Mr Sawyer, but you try to relax."

With that the Dean turned on his heel and left, and from what I saw before he turned, his mood wasn't to be trifled with.

I made it back to my car and got it checked out and then was on my way back to the apartment. I got there before Karl and went right upstairs and checked to see what was out for supper. Then I just crashed on the couch.

A bit later Karl showed up and took one look at me and just plopped down beside me.

"Talk to me Den."

"First off they've switched the room for the practicum. Then Adams ignored my review this afternoon. Just left without saying a word. Somehow word got back to Dean Evans and he confronted me when I was coming out of the rec center. Coach didn't even let me get to the floor today. He even threatened to suspend me just to keep me off the floor today."

"Sounds like he's really keeping up on the situation."

"I think the whole damn business school is watching this one lover. Can you imagine the turmoil there will be if they have to censure Adams or take any kind of action against him? How many student reviews would be triggered by pissed off students? I'm sure whoever would have to take up his slack wouldn't be happy campers either."

"There's no two ways about it lover, whatever happens there are going to be ripples throught the business school. Not your worry or your fault so forget about them."

"How can I forget about them when so many of our friends might well be impacted? Just about if not everybody we know on campus is likely to be affected in some way shape or form, let alone every other business student."

"Light of my life, will you give it a rest? You can't be responsible for the actions of others. The fault, if there is any, rests squarely on Adams shoulders for all of this. He is responsible NOT you! He started this whole thing NOT you!"

"The head hears you lover, but the heart and stomach are deaf right now."

Karl wrapped his arms around me.

"I know Den, but this will all work itself out somehow."

"I hope to hell so."

We had our supper and ended up crashing early again.

Wednesday and we were at it again. We got our laps run and then back to the apartment and ready for the day.

Investment vehicles was taken care of and then it was on to the tax class with Mr McEmbers. The class itself was gotten through without any problems.

When I was leaving the class Mr McEmbers just smiled and winked at me.
