One of them I recognized without any problem at all. It was Doug.

"Didn't expect you to be here waiting Doug."

"Well, this really can't wait Dennis. This gentleman is Mr. Bergman from the Olympic gymnastics committee."

"The long and short of it Mr Sawyer is that I'm here to offer you a tryout for the Olympic team."

"I am of course flattered Mr Bergman, but as I told Doug once before, I have a business waiting for me to run. Also, I intend to be back in college next year so I will again be competing at this level."

"I at least had to offer Mr Sawyer. Good luck with next year, and from what I saw today, I think you would have made a valuable addition to the Olympic team. Here's my card in case you ever change your mind."

"Thank you, Mr Bergman, but I don't think that will be happening."

At that point, I saw coach coming down the hall doing his bedcheck, and he certainly recognized at least Doug.

"Ahh Mr Ambliss, good to see you again. Joseph, trying to poach Mr Sawyer for the Olympics?"

"Unsuccessfully, but yes. I'm glad to see you found another position. They ever find out what was going on?"

"Thanks, and not to my knowledge. Ok Dennis, sack time."

I went into my room at that point. I checked my phone and there was a text.

Doubt like hell you'll see this tonight lover. Not even going to try and call you. Must be pure chaos. Love you like there's no tomorrow See you when you get home.

I went quickly to sleep after that.

The next morning I was up bright and early along with the rest of the team. We all wanted to get back to campus so we could start to enjoy our summers.

It was on to the bus and headed to campus as early as we could. We arrived shortly before noontime and as expected the press and quite a few others were waiting for us.

"Well, looks like I get to write one final story on you Dennis."

"Truth to tell, Bob you might well have more stories to write. I'll be back next year."

"Well hot damn. What brought this on?"

"Dean Evans pointed out that I could easily earn my associate of business degree, so I'm going for it."

It was almost 2 in the afternoon before I was able to get to my car. I did have the chance to talk to Dean Evans and told him I would be back in the fall. I grabbed a drive-through lunch and headed home.

Much as I suspected, the media and the high school team were both waiting as I pulled into the garage. Just like last year, I again grabbed all of the medals, arranged them on my neck, and went out to face the music.

The media was more easily satisfied this year and in less than an hour I was finally inside the house with Karl and his family, Pete, Aaron, Roland, and a few others.

"Well, that's another one in the books! You'll never guess what happened last night. Doug was waiting to see me at my room, along with another guy. I got an invitation to try out for the Olympics!"

"And?"

"You know damn well 'and' Karl. I thanked them, told them that I was intending to be back in school this fall and that after that I had a business to run."

"Bet that didn't make them happy."

"Doug wasn't all that surprised. I told him the same before when he asked."

"Wait a minute! You're going back to class in the fall?"

"Yeah, Pete. I'm going to be up there for Karl anyway. So why shouldn't I get my associate of business and, stay on the gymnastics team?"

"No reason whatsoever. That's going to surprise a lot of people."

"I have no doubt. Of course that may well make it easier to get through the year with a little less drama."

"Oh yeah, like that is going to happen."

"Hey, stranger things Pete."

People hung around until almost 11 and finally, Karl and I got to bed.

Tuesday morning and we were up and out with Roland and Aaron. It was down to the park for our laps and we even waved to Dana as he passed us on patrol.

We got back to the house and had our breakfast.

"So what are we going to be up to today lover?"

"I hadn't much thought about it. I know I should probably go put in an appearance at the office, but I really don't feel like doing it. Hell, I need a couple of days to decompress Karl."

"Yeah, just in time to wind yourself up to go take the licensing test."

"Yeah, that's just next week. Kinda glad I'll be able to do that locally."

"So, the question still stands, what about today?"

"Kick back and enjoy the pool and the quiet."

"You're forgetting lover, Bobbie and Connie are out of school as well."

"Them I can put up with. It's the press that can go take a leap."

"So when are you going to put in an appearance at the office?"

"Maybe tomorrow or Thursday. There really isn't any rush. I still can't trade, and I'm going back to school next fall, so there isn't any need to move into the office just yet either."

"Yeah, but you still need to let them know what is going on."

"I suppose, but that can be done in just a visit."

"Yeah, with as many times as you've told folks you have a business to run, I doubt like hell you're going to just do a quick visit this summer."

"True enough. Guess I might as well go in tomorrow. I need to check on whatever new security arrangements there are before that check-up which is due just about any time."

"Damn, I forgot about that."

The day was spent just relaxing, even with Bobbie and Connie coming over. We had our supper and after I did my usual walk around the house, we crashed out for the night.

Wednesday morning Karl and I were up and out once again. Once back to the house we got cleaned up and fed. I was off to the office.

"Well, I didn't expect to see you this soon Dennis."

"Well, I figured I best get in here, especially with that review taking place at any time."

"You just missed it. They did it Friday."

"And?"

"They were more than happy with what was done on all fronts."

"There's that at least. So what do I need to know?"

"Absolutely nothing gets done without a password, except maybe clocking in and out. So you need to stop by the IT office and generate that. I've got new keys for both the front and back doors and you'll need to call Atech and set up a passcode for the new alarm system."

"All things to be done ASAP I assume?"

"If you intend to get anything done today."

"Is Arthur in yet?"

"Haven't seen him come in but he should be here any minute."

"Alright then, before I forget to tell you, I won't be going into the office up there this year. I've decided to take some classes and get my associate of business degree."

"You mean Dean Evans talked you into it to keep you on the gymnastics team."

"Yeah, well that too."

"So are you still going to take the licensing exam next week?"

"Of course, and I'm damn happy well going to pass it too."

"So, maybe we'll get some work out of you this summer after all."

By this time people had started to show up for work and it was a lot of recognition of my gold medals.

I eventually got around to the IT office and got my password generated and did thank Arthur for all of his hard work in getting things more secure. I even called Atech and got that code taken care of.

The rest of the day was spent just watching the markets, both local and worldwide. The action on the European energy market had finally evened out, which didn't mean that I could stop watching it altogether. There didn't seem to be anything extraordinary going on in the financial world today.

4:30 finally rolled around and people started shutting down for the day.

"I didn't see anything noteworthy today Stan. Did I miss something?"

"Not a thing Dennis."

"Then I'll see you tomorrow."

I got into "baby" and started for home. A for sale sign caught my eye and I pulled into the lot. It was the old Y building. I thought about it for a few seconds. There was an Olympic-sized pool, a sauna, a weight room, twin locker rooms, and offices.

It had everything but the actual gymnastics equipment and as I recalled there was plenty of room for that and a few more exercise machines. Karl had wondered how I was going to stay connected to gymnastics, and a training center here in town would sure as hell do that. It also beat two hours on the road every weekend.

Oh, Karl was going to love this. I took down the realtor's number to call them tomorrow.

I got back on the road home. I no sooner walked in the door and Karl got a look at me and he knew there was something on my mind.

"Do I want or need to know?"
