My phone rang immediately.

"What's happened Den?"

I quickly explained the evenings events.

"Damnation! Who would ever have thought?"

"Karl, I think he is really confused and pretty vulnerable right now and I don't know how far he'll want to take this. For that matter I don't kow how far I'm willing to take it."

"I trust you love and it may well be that it would be best for Pete to......experiment with you than for him to find someone else with a big mouth."

"Oh lord that would be all he would need if all it is is curiosity. I just...I don't want it to hurt us Karl."

"We talked about this already Den. You have to find out for yourself that what we had was real. This may well be the start of that journey."

"I'm hoping it is a short trip without many stops."

"Me to love."

"So how have your tests been so far?"

"Piece of cake. Two more tommorrow and one on Saturday. Easy peasy."

"Sleep well babe."

"You to love and just take it slow with Pete and let him make the first move."

"Yes dear."

"Goofball. Good night."

I laid awake for I don't know how long just considering how far to go with Pete,if he decided to go that way at all. I eventually fell alseep. I woke up when I heard my phone buzzing with a text message.

"Still drizzling so I'm betting we're not going jogging?"

I texted back "Safe bet try again tomorrow. Rolling over going back to sleep." And I did for almost another 3 hours.

When I finally got up,Pete had gone to work.

"Well about time you were up boyo. Mister Peter has headed off to work and his mother is in her room looking over the study materials for her course. Mr Holtz dropped em off tis morning before he went to work."

"Thank you Mrs Ohanlon. Have you called home this morning to check on everyone?"

"Aye they're all straighened away from the storm. From what I'm hearing on the telly the roads are fair passable now."

"Good on all counts. Ahh good morning Mrs Pershing."

"Good morning Dennis."

"You look worried. Something wrong?"

"Well I really hate to mention, but well......this course it presumes I have access to a computer."

"And you obviously don't. Well we can certainly take care of that. We can get ourselves over to Wally World and get you something to use."

"Oh no I couldn't possibly....."

"Yes you can,and it will go into your ledger. Does it assume you have access to the internet as well?"

"From what I have read I believe so."

"Well let me check the setup in the office and see what is there and then we shall go and see what we need."

"Dennis I really could probably do this without a machine."

"But it is going to be a lot easier with one. Who knows you might even be able to set up a business from home in which case you will definately need a machine."

"You're not going to let this go are you young man?"

"I most certainly am not."

"Very well then. Let me have a bit more coffee while you get yourself together and let's get this done before Peter gets home. If I know my son he will argue with you about it as well."

"So we present him with a fait accompli and he can just live with it."

"Precisely."

"I shall be ready in about a half hour."

I finished my breakfast and showered and got ready. I went into the office and checked to see what was there and found only the one box with the identification of modem on it. I wrote down the numbers that were on it and hoped they would mean something to a sales person.

Soon Mrs Pershing and I were in the Benz and on our way to Walmart. We found a salesperson who seemed to know what they were talking about. He recommended a machine and whatever else I needed. I thanked him and then moved outside and called Aaron.

"What up Den?"

"I need to get a computer system for Mrs Pershing and wanted to know what you think of what the Wally World guy recommended."

"Ok shoot."

I read off what the guy had recommended

"Ok that all sounds good to me and I remember what you have in your dads office seeing as I had to set it up for him. You should be good. Give me a yell when you get home and I'll come over and set it up for you. Oh just make sure the system has wireless internet or it will be a real pain."

"Sounds good Aaron. Probably be home in about 45 minutes or so."

"Good deal."

We went back inside and got what the guy had recommended, along with all of the protection plans and security software and the whole nine yards of Microsoft productivity software, wireless printer and were soon on our way home.

Aaron came over and went to work setting everything up and then he spent quite a while getting Mrs Pershing used to things.

"Well I must say that I never knew these silly things could be so useful. I always thought they were just for playing games and talking to your friends."

"From what little exposure I've had to them since I got out of the hospital, they can open great new vistas for you Mrs Pershing."

"Oh afore I forget, there's mail for you boyo, from you da's company looks like."

I opened the envelope and it was a note from Mr Bellows about when to report on Monday and whom to see and the dress code, which wasn't going to be a problem after checking my closet.

It was by this time, noon and we sat down to a beef stew for lunch. I was beginning to wonder what kind of a food budget we were on. After we had eaten Mrs Pershing went back to her room to start getting familiar with her computer.

I went into the office and found what looked like the most basic book that there was in the library. I figured that Mrs Pershing wasn't the only one who had to start boneing up.

At some point the phone rang and Mrs Ohanlon had answered it. I saw her go past the office in one direction and then Mrs Pershing go back in the other direction in a hurry.

Mrs Ohanlon stuck her head in the door.

"Trouble boyo. Mr Peter is being held at the police station."

"Damn. When Mrs Pershing gets off the phone call the damn lawyers and get somebody over there for him. I'll get her to the station. Damn I have no idea where it is."

"Corner of Main and Dodge. Go down to the main road turn left for about 12 miles and it is on the left."

Mrs Pershing came back at that point.

"Why are they holding Pete?"

"Assault and battery at least, manslaughter at worst."
