A couple of you have asked for a chapter or two from Karls perspective, so I thought I might give it a shot. Hope you all like it.

We walked into Dens house and the smell of apples, cinnamon and nutmeg hung heavy in the air.

Denny stumbled and I caught him. He was dead weight in my hands so I lowered him to the floor. Next thing I knew there were tears rolling down his face.

"I remember."

Two little words that I had been waiting almost a year to hear. I was both overjoyed and afraid. What if he remembered that stupid fight we had over what to do after the graduation ceremonies? I had wanted to go to an after party and Denny had wanted to go out with his parents. Neither one of us was going to give in. How different would things have turned out if Denny wasn't with his parents,or if both our families had been in one vehicle?

I'd have to worry about that later. Right now Denny had to be beyond confused with a lifetime of memories flooding back into his head. I needed to be here for him more than ever.

"Come on in and sit down lover. Breathe. Mrs O'hanlon, would you please call over and tell my parents what has happened. I don't want to leave him right now."

"Sure thing boyo."

"How you doing lover?"

"Physically I think I'm fine. Mentally, I have a lot to sort through Karl, and I don't know where to focus first."

"Focus on the good stuff Den."

"If only it were that easy. One thing triggers another and it's like flipping through tv channels at one every couple of seconds."

My parents came though the back door at that point and simply came over and hugged us both.

"Dennis, you know we're hear if you need us to talk to or anything."

"I know Stan....and I actually mean I KNOW. Like I just told Karl I have a lot to sort out. Karl,I think I need to be alone for a while."

"There's no way in hell I'm leaving your side right now lover."

"Karl, please. I need to think and I can't do that with people hanging around. I promise I won't do anything stupid and I'll see you in the morning."

"Karl, Dennis needs this time I think. Come on home."

"Yes sir. Don't you dare hesitate to call me if you need anything Den."

"You know I won't lover."

I gave Dennis one more hug and a kiss and the parents and I headed back over to the house.

Naturally Bobby tackled me when I came through the back door and Connie wasn't that far behind.

Everybody wanted to know about everything that had been happening at school and details of the whole Larry Brown debacle. I don't know how coherent a story I told them as I was worried about Denny over there by himself. It must have been obvious to my dad.

"He'll be fine Karl and you know damn well he will call if he needs you."

"The head may know it dad, but my hearts having trouble with it."

We finally had dinner and things quieted down for the evening. 11 pm came around and I texted Denny.

"love you to the ends of the Earth."

I followed with my usual emojis.

"Love you more. Plz don't say anything to Aaron or

Roland in the morning."

Dens usual emojis followed.

"U got it lover."

I climbed into bed,but I didn't get to sleep for I don't know how long.

5:45 and I rolled out of bed and slipped on my jogging stuff and was out the door. Up and around the corner to see Roland, Aaron, and Denny coming up the street.

From the looks on their faces Denny hadn't told them a thing if I were reading them right. Denny came straight into my arms and gave me a quick kiss. He was smiling so I took that to mean things were alright. We headed down the street and got to the track and did our laps and headed back towards our houses.

A black and white came around the corner and Officer Pembrose waved at us as he moved on by.

I was about to peel off and go to my house when Denny reached out and took my hand. I went with him to his house and when we were inside alone he planted one hell of a kiss on me,which I returned.

"Are you all sorted out lover?"

"Oh hell I'm far from it Karl. I did sort through a few things though. I now remember why Camp Montasa has such meaning for me. It was where we shared a tent and first 'got physical' with each other. Things are starting to sort themselves out lover."

Now the question for me was should I tell Dennis about the argument or wait until he remembered it for himself? Were there other things that I had forgotten that had ticked Denny off? No relationship was perfect, but people in general only seemed to remember the good stuff.

"Penny for your thoughts Karl."

"They ain't even worth that love. There's got to be a million things you want to ask me about and I'm not so sure I want to be reminded of all of them."

"Nothing that won't keep lover. Right now I just want you to shower with me and then I suppose we need to get over to your house for the Parade and lunch as usual."

"You remember coming over for the Parade every year?"

"I do lover. And the setting up of the Christmas tree after dinner."

We headed into the bathroom and once Denny got the water to his liking we stepped in and washed each other down. There was a fair amount of holding, kissing and carressing but we didn't carry it any further than that.

Soon enough we were dressed and over to my house to grab a little breakfast before the Parade came on. Dad, Bobby, Den and I sat through the whole parade and mom and Connie checked in between getting things done for the main meal of the day. The parade was over and we had a snack before the football games began.

Nobody seemed to want to talk about Denny getting his memory back, most of all Denny it felt like. Even Bobby seemed to get the message.

So dinner was had and dad set up our tree and as tradition, we all placed an ornament on the tree at the same time. I was hoping that Den wanted to spend the night, but along about 11 he decided to go home.

When he went out the back door I went with him.

"What is it lover? Why are you set on sleeping alone again tonight?"

"Because I tossed and turned a good bit last night love and I expect I will again to night. No use in both of us not getting much sleep. I'll see you for jogging in the morning, but after there's something that I need to do alone if you don't mind."

"I do mind, but I guess I'll have to let you go do whatever it is."

"Thank you lover. See you in the morning."

Denny then stepped in and kissed me, long and deep.

I was concerned about Den not being able to sleep and I half thought about following him tomorrow, but I knew just how much that might piss him off.

I went into bed and I watched as his bedroom lights went off.

Bright and early I again slipped into jogging clothes and headed for the corner. All three guys came up the road and we headed down and did our laps and headed for our own houses.

When I walked into the house alone my mom raised an eyebrow.

"Trouble in paradise Karl?"

"I hope not mom. Denny had something that he wanted to do alone today. I suppose he might of went Christmas shopping or something, but I can't imagine him hitting the stores today of all days."

"Neither can I. We'll just have to trust that he knows what he is doing and that we'll see him when he is ready to be seen."

"Guess you're right there mom. I'm going to grab a shower and I'll be out in a few."

I went and grabbed a shower and got dressed and then came out to the kitchen for a bit of breakfast.

Noontime came and went and no Denny. I was very tempted to call him and make sure he was alright, but I didn't.

The day wore on and the longer it did the more worried I got. Finally about 4 Denny came walking through the back door.

I fairly ran to him and took him in my arms and wasn't about to let go.

"Where the hell have you been all day?"

"Sorry I had you worried love, but where I was is none of your business. Just believe that it was something that I had to do alone, and now that it is done we have the rest of the day and tomorrow to do nothing,or whatever you want.....within reason."

"Oh, so no jetting off to the carribean for a couple of days?"

"Not this trip lover. Maybe for spring break."

"Damn that's what almost 4 months away?"

"About that yeah, or we could well go somewhere else if you wanted. Your passport up to date? Hell I wonder if mine is or if I even have one?"

"You don't love. Your dad had a family one for you. When you turned 18 last Christmas you should have gotten your own."

"Something to take care of when we get back to school I guess."

"Where the hell would you want to go that you'd need a passport for lover?"

"No idea at this point Karl. Hell I don't even know how to go about getting one."

"Think you need to start at the post office love, but I'm not sure."

"Plenty of time to worry about it later I guess. Now what do you want to do after supper love?"

"Stupid as it sounds? Why don't we hit that club where Jason dances?"

The wince on Dennys face told me he wasn't really wanting to do that.

"Or we can just go hang at Mannys and see who shows up."

"If you boys do that be careful. I understand they finally got their booze licence back."

"I think we know better than that Stan. All this time at college and I don't think we've had a drink on any given weekend, even over at the frat."

That got a raise eyebrow from dad, but I was pretty sure Den was right on that count.

"Fine then supper when mom has it a quick shower and I guess we can be off. We going to take 'baby'?"

"Of course we are. Don't have to worry about Dirk wrecking her this time."

We had leftovers for supper and then Den was out the back door to go grab a shower at his house. I grabbed mine and got dressed and headed over to his house.

"You still want to keep the lid on your memory Den?"

"Yeah I think so, just to see if anybody is flying under false colors as it were, like Paul last year."

Soon enough we were on the road to Mannys.

NOTE I just realized that this will be going up on Thanksgiving day. I honestly didn't plan that way guys I swear.

A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.
