The rest of Friday and the weekend was spent with Karl and I ended up doing a load of laundry on Sunday afternoon so I didn't catch what for from Mrs Ohanlon on Monday.

I went on my lunch hour on Monday and got my car released from impound and had it trailered to the people who had restored it originally. They told me they'd have it ready in a week.

Back to work and I was called into Mr Bellows office.

"Just wanted to update you on those forgeries. We've recovered all funds for our client and the lawyers tell me we have no other liabilities concerned with them. You saved our butts Dennis."

"I just got lucky. If I hadn't been handling so many other certificates that day I might not even have noticed the difference in the feel of the paper."

"I also wanted to check and see if your plans are still the same?"

"Yes they are. School in a couple of months, back here for the summer back to school and taking the exam."

"Somehow I don't think you're going to have a problem with either school or the exam. Ok back to work for the both of us."

So it was back to Asset Retention and the processing of transactions.

Another week went by uneventfully, and my newly restored car was returned. I was counting down the days until Karl got home for the summer and finally they reached zero.

Karl made it home by early afternoon and after he had spent time with his family,he was over to the house. Suffice to say we did without supper that evening, much to Mrs Ohanlons dissappointment.

The summer went by in a blur of jogging in the morning, work and then home to Karl. Most evenings were spent in either one house or the other. Weekends were spent around the pool for the most part. Aaron, and Roland, even Pete were common visitors.

Karl did get to meet Jason one afternoon and after Jason had left Karl commented that he could see why I had chosen him as he was very cute. I still felt a bit guilty of it even after all of this time.

Sooner than expected our summer drew to a close. It was time to pack up and get ready to move to college. So Wenesday evening I got all but the last of my things packed into the Benz. I drove over to Petes and got the majority of his stuff packed in as well.

"I should be over fairly early so we can get going and have time to unpack once we get there."

"Yeah I figured as much seeing as we're loading up tonight. Den, why does my stomach feel like its full of buttterflies?"

"Because we are both about to depart on a new piece of our lives and we don't know just what is going to happen. Don't think my stomach is any better."

"Well you boys had better remember how to write home,or at least text a woman every once in a while."

"You can count on it Millie and we'll only send you the most embarrassing of the photos that we take."

"Jeeze Dennis leave a guy a little self respect why don't you."

"Where's the fun in that?"

"Dennis Sawyer, now stop that before things go too far."

"Yes ma'am."

"Oh come here and let me give you a hug. I won't see you in the morning."

I went to get my hug without saying anything about it.

"You two take care of each other," was whispered in my ear.

"Count on it."

It was back to my place to spend the evening with Karl and his family. Before I left for the evening,it was a handshake from Stan, a hug from Gert and Connie, and surprisingly from Bobbie as well. Karl would come over to my house with me for a night that would long be remembered.

The morning jog was not as zestful as it might have been, but was finally accomplished and Aaron and Roland both gave me a handshake before Karl and I made it back to the house. Mrs Ohanlon was there by that time so Karl and I took a quick shower and then out to breakfast that was enough to keep me going until long after I would reach the college.

"Ok,the bills go to the agency as always and whatever is left you can forward to me once a week. Bobbie is allowed to use the pool as long as either his mother or father are here. If he gives you any trouble lock the gate until you think he has learned his lesson. You are not paid enough to take and lip from him Mrs Ohanlon."

"Don't you be worrying about tat boyo. You should be knowin better by now."

It was a long hug for Karl before I went to the car.

"See you on Saturday Love."

"You behave until them."

"Of course love."

It was a short drive to Pete's and then we were on our way to college.

By the time we made it to the campus it was more like a 6 1/2 hour drive with all of the other freshman trying to get in at the same time. Still it was early afternoon when we pulled up the freshman receiving center.

Pete and I got in our respective lines and eventually made it to the desk. I was asked for my drivers license and once my identity was verified I was given a rather thick 8 x 11 envelope which contained everything I needed to get started. Then it was into another line to get my student ID taken. At this point I had lost track of where Pete was in the process. Finally picture taken and delivered I made my way back to the car. I looked at the envelope and written across the top was "Ingram Hall 226 left." Well I knew where Ingram Hall was as it was where Karl was last year. Pete wasn't that long in getting back to the car.

"So where are you hanging your hat?"

"Ingram Hall 226 right."

"Then we're roomies. Pete......do you want to try and change that?"

"Why should I want to change?"

"Well I'm not going to shout it from the rooftops or anything, but with Karl hanging around all of the time it isn't going to be long before somebody finds out that I'm gay. You checking in with me and all, well you're likely to get painted with the same brush so to speak."

"I'm not worried about it Den. With any luck I'll put short work to that rumor if it should pop up at all."

"As long as you're sure Pete."

"I'm sure. How else are we going to watch each others backs like I know mom made you promise?"

So it was off to Ingram hall. The keys to room were in our packets and soon enough we were unloading the car. Once we were in the room I sent Karl a text letting him know we made it safely.

Then it was a matter of getting things set up and put away. Once that was done I sat down to review everything that was in my packet. There was the standard welcome to stuff, along with my class schedule and the list of books that I would need for them. There was a flyer from just about every organization on campus as well. The only one that really interested me was the one for the athletic and recreation center. I wasn't about to surcome the freshman spread if I could help it. I did notice that my schedule did give me time in the morning for my jog with Karl once he get here in a couple of days.

"Looks like we're on our own until the orientation briefing tomorrow at 9am."

"So,shall we scout around or what?"

Before I could answer there was a voice at our open door.

"I thought it was just a coincidence when I saw two very familiar names on my student roster, but I had to check and be sure."

Pete turned to the guy.

"Andy??? What the hell are you doing here?"

"Turns out I'm your Resident Advisor for the year."

I stood up to face the guy but had no recognition of him.

"Den,you probably don't remember Andy. He was a year ahead of us and was on the team with me."

"Sorry Andy but Pete's right. Had an accident a little over a year ago and everything before I woke up at Christmas time is a blank."

"Yeah I heard about that. I mean Karl was here last year after all."

"He'll be back on Saturday."

"Yeah I imagine he'll be over in Cochran Hall, just across the quad, unless of course he spends a lot of time over here."

"Then you know?"

"Yeah and I also know enough to keep my mouth shut,so no worries. Even at that, the school has a no harrassment polilcy."

"Maybe but we all know there's always one who didn't get the message,or just plain doesn't give a damn about it."

"Well policy is they get one warning,no matter who they are. So you two are going to be the oldest freshmen in the dorm. I hope I can count on you to to back me up if needs be."

"Sure thing Andy,Dennis and I both understand the need for a leader type."

"So, am I going to be running into many supposedly recognizeable faces?"

"Not that I know of Dennis, but hell I don't get the full scoop, only the ones on this floor. I don't recognize any of the names as being from our neck of the woods, but hell these guys were all two years behind me,and last year I wasn't even an RA. I haven't run into any and that's about all I can say for sure. Word of advice for you though. If you've got your booklists get your asses over to the bookstore today. After the orientation breifing tomorrow the place will be packed and you'll be there forever."

"Well then that looks like at least part of the rest of the day is spoken for. Let's head out and take care of it now Pete, you got your card from the scholarship?"

"Yeah right here. Andy,we'll try not be any trouble for you this year."

"I appreciate it guys, and I'll try not to be to much of an overbearing asshole. Later guys."

Pete and I would get our lists and backpacks and head for the bookstore. The map that was in our packages made it easy enough to find. Even with Andys advice to get there soonest,it still took us a good hour or so to get in get our stuff and get out.

"If that is normal,I'd hate to see it when it was busy."

"Hopefully they'll have more than 2 clerks on after tomorrow. Ok so we have our books, now what Den?"

"Well, I don't know about you,but I'm starting to get hungry. Breakfast was what almost 9 hours ago now."

"Yeah guess I am getting hungry at that. So what does the map say about eating?"

"Well there's the cafeteria on the ground floor of the dorm, and it looks like a snack bar at the student union. Other than that it's a lot of vending machines. I spotted a few places on the way in,not to far from the main gate. Want to try our luck off campus?"

"I'm not feeling quite that adventurous just yet. Let's wait on Karl for that as he likely knows his way around since he was here last year."

"Sounds reasonable to me. So the Cafe or the student union?"

"Let's try the union. We know the cafe will always be there and the union,I doubt, does breakfast."

"Then we turn right here and it's two buildings down on the ground floor."

It was easy enough to find as there was a steady stream of people moving in and out of the building.

Inside we went and got into line and ended up with cheeseburgers fries and a shake. We were lucky enough to find a table that was just being vacated and we sat down and started to eat.

"Excuse me,but do you guys mind if I sit here?"

I had thought Jason was slim, but this guy was positively scrawny.

"Sure sit. I'm Dennis and this is Pete."

"Hi I'm Gordon. You guys in Ingrahm Hall?"

"Yeah second floor."

"Me too. Haven't laid eyes on my roomie yet though."

"Well he still has a couple of hours to make it in tonight."

"I suppose. Ummm....listen I don't want to impose but....this is my first time away from home. Do you mind if I kinda hang with you guys until I'm a little more used to this?"

"I can't speak for Pete, but this is the first time for me as well,so I don't mind."

"Neither do I. You kinda look like you could use a friend or two."

"Thanks. I was homeschooled so I didn't have a shit load of friends."

"Well look at the bright side. You now have about 3000 to choose from."

"I think I've already chosen the best."

Well I wasn't about to argue with the guy,but I wasn't ready to give him my life story so to speak.

Our food was soon enough gone and there were people waiting for tables so we were out of there and headed back to the dorm.

"Did you get your books yet Gordon?"

"Yeah first thing I did once I got everything into my room. The RA put a bug in my ear."

We found our way back to our dorm and went upstairs to find it busier than a retail store on Black Friday.

"Damn glad we got here early. We can kick back and watch the chaos now."

It turned out that Gordon was right beside us in 224.

"Well isn't that convieniet."

"Still no sign of your roomie?"

"Not yet."
