Al and I made our way home and I jumped into the pool while I waited for Karl. He eventually showed up and dinner was had and we called it an early night.

5:45 reared its ugly head and we were out for our jogging and soon enough back to the house. Breakfast was had and then we were off for Edgeton again.

Coach Mathews was ready when I got there and we spent today polishing the triples. By the time we were done we were both pretty satisfied that I was going to be able to land them consistently. So now with a triple vault, high bar, rings, and a final one in my floor excercise, I should be pretty much unbeatable.

"Don't let that go to your head Dennis. Everybody around here has been watching you and I'm sure word is getting around. That's going to make everybody else work just as hard on getting their own triples in shape. I'm still betting that you have a hell of a season."

"I've been watching too coach and so far I haven't seen anybody here who has been able to do all four."

"I haven't either Dennis, but there are a hell of a lot of other facilities around the state. I'm just saying don't get cocky and listen to your coach if he tells you not to throw your triples."

"But what's the sense of having them if I don't use them?"

"Strategic reserve just like last year Dennis. Save something to wow them at the all state. Just two weeks now to the big day."

"Yes sir. Things, as they say, are starting to get real."

"Well I'll see you next week for our final session. Take it easy for the week Dennis. You've worked hard this summer and you deserve a little time off."

"That's called a honeymoon isn't it?"

"Get yourself out of here!"

I hit the whirlpool and the showers and we were on our way home once again.

Nothing untoward had happened this week so Al was once again packed to leave on Sunday morning.

"Well it should be nice for you to finally get home and sleep in your own bed."

"Can't say that I'll mind. You guys take care of each other and be careful regardless."

"Always my intention Al. You take care of yourself."

Shortly thereafter Al was on his way. For the first time in quite a while, Karl and I had the house all to ourselves. We retired to the bedroom and didn't worry about how much noise we were making.

Around about noontime we were out in the yard and had the grill fired up for hotdogs and hamburgers. Bobbie and Connie were soon enough over as were Gert and Stan. The noise must have alerted Aaron as he showed up a bit later and even Pete dropped by. It turned into a regular party for the afternoon. It lasted all the way through dinner and until it started to get dark out. With the setting of the sun everybody headed for home.

Karl and I cleaned things up so as not to upset Mrs Ohanlon and crashed out early.

Monday morning and we were back to the routine, only this time without Al. After so long it felt kind of funny not having him there.

I got to the office and found Stan.

"Still nothing. The European markets have started to do nore business since Friday but there's been nothing big reported."

"Maybe we have overactive imaginations and there was nothing there at all."

"Always possible I suppose. Well Angelo should be back today at least."

"I'd better have last weeks recap of my imaginaries done for him when he gets here."

I went to my desk and got that done just before Angelo showed up.

"Feeling better?"

"Still a little stiff but I'll be fine. Who handled my clients while I was out?"

"Patrick and I. There were no major transactions that I know of."

"I'll review the activity logs. I've been keeping an eye on the European markets as best I can at home. Anything new?"

"Just that they've started to pick up a little. I'm thinking that whatever was expected to happen didn't and folks over there are starting to breath again."

"Pretty fair assessment Mr Sawyer."

We got down to work and it was a fairly easy day of things. We closed down right at 4:30. I was headed to see Stan when he just waved me off. So it was out to "baby" and home. Mrs Ohanlon looked for Al when I walked in,out of force of habit.

"Gonna be a bit strange no havin him around now."

"I'm sure we will get used to it Mr Ohanlon."

Karl showed up a few minutes later and we settled into supper and then an hour in the workout room before crashing in front of the tv until bedtime. Having the house all to ourselves tonight we didn't even bother with sleep pants and stayed cuddled naked against each other for most of the night.

5:45 on Tuesday and it was raining lightly. I texted the guys that we'd see them tomorrow. This close to the wedding I wasn't going to take the chance of catching a cold or something.

I took the Toyota to work today just because of the rain. I found Stan for the overnight report.

"Things seem to be getting back to normal levels. Whatever it was seems to have passed."

"Well that's a relief. So back to business as what passes for normal."

"Looks that way. Get to it."

I went and set myself up for the day and Angelo soon showed up.

"Looks as though things are getting back to normal in Europe."

"That's Mr Bellows take yeah."

"Very good, then let's get to it."

Again it was a pretty straight forward day as far as trading went for Angelo at least.

"That is of course your perogative Mr Anders, but personally I think that is a bad investemnt."

Patrick had said this with a little to much heat in his voice for my liking. I waited until he was done with the call.

"Patrick?"

"Contrary customer. He asks for our advice and when we give it to him he completely ignores it and then blames us when he looses money. I'm about ready to cut him loose or give him to one of the other traders."

"Don't cut him loose. When his next statement goes out include a little graphic for him to show him just how much he would have realized if he had followed our advice, but be nice about it."

"That goes against company policy Mr Sawyer."

"Special one time dispensation, and Mr Terrentolo is your witness."

"You the boss."

"Damn straight I am."

"Mr Sawyer,may I have a word?"

"Of course Mr Bellows."

Why did I feel like I was being called to the principals office?

"OK Dennis I get it. You are the boss, but doing things like that are going to cause a bit of confusion."

"And I get it to Stan. But it gives Patrick a little bit of a way to vent without it being destructive to either himself or the company."

Which had Stan stopping and thinking about it for a second.

"I don't know what's bugging him but we need to try and help him keeps things together. Is he due any vacation?"

"He's taking a week in August."

"Let's hope he can keep it together until then."

4:30 had rolled around by now and people were shutting down. I went to close out my desk for the day.

"Patrick, offer's still open if there's anything I can do."

"I appreciate it Mr Sawyer, but the truth is I don't know what to do. It's my little brother. He's constantly in trouble with the police. Nothing really criminal just petty stuff, but I can see where he's headed. He doesn't listen to me anymore. In one ear and out the other."

"Have you tried the scaring him straight path yet?"

"I wouldn't even know where to start."

"Let me make a few calls tonight, if you want."

"Hey I'll try anything right now."

"I'll give it a shot and see what I can set up and let you know soonest."

"Thanks a lot, but why are you willing to stick your neck out?"

"Because we can't afford to waste a single life or mind, and because I can. Now go on and try to relax tonight. Hey what's your brothers name?"

"Alexander but he goes by Alex, he's 14 so he won't fall under juvey much longer."

"I'll get things started tonight if they can be done at all."

I headed into my dads office and called Dana Pembrose.

"Dana I need a big favor if you can."

"Tell me Dennis. The department certainly owes you enough."

"I need a scared straight run on a kid."

"Name?"

"Alex Greene aged 14."

"He's still young enough that it might do some good. I even know who he is. The parents are gone and he lives with his older brother, who I guess has gaurdianship. I'll need his approval to do it."

"Not a problem I'm betting. Patrick is at the end of his rope trying to figure out what to do with the kid."

"I'll drop a release form by the house on my way home. Fill it out and get Patrick to sign it and then I'll take things from there."

"I really appreciate this Dana."

"Yeah I just hope it works. There's no garuantees."

"I know that Dana, but it looks like the best hope at this point."

"Ok Dennis I'll get it in the works if you're sure that it will be signed."

"I'm pretty sure Dana and thanks."

After that I left the office and Dana was just pullling away from the house as I was pulling in. We just waved at each other and I went inside.

"You just missed Officer Pembrose boyo. He left an envelope for ya."

"Thank you Mrs Ohanlon. I was expecting it."

"Sup will be just as soon as Mr Karl gets here."

Karl showed up soon enough and we ate. Then it was into the excercise room for an hour or so, a bit of tv and we crashed.

Hump day dawned bright and dry so we were up and out and soon enough back for breakfast and then out the door to work.

I got the usual report from Stan and then went to set up for the day. I left the envelope with the form right in the middle of Patricks desk so that it was the first thing he saw when he came into work.

Patrick certainly saw it and opened it an then looked at me. Without a word he took pen in hand and filled it out and signed it. He then handed it to me.

"I hope to hell this works."
