We just grabbed our bags and went upstairs, pulled all of the drapes and blinds closed, and crashed. It was mid afternoon when we finally woke up. Karl and I just got a light snack, as we knew that Mrs Castanza was going to have a hearty meal for us in just a few hours. We simply lounged around until we heard Paul and Cam pull into the yard.

So it was down to dinner and stories of the last week were exchanged. Pauls eyes got a little wide when he learned that Karl and I had raced Lamborghini's.

For his own part Paul was surprised how much he liked working alongside Cam at the stables and he had indeed ended up riding "clean up" the last couple of days.

We were soon enough done with dinner and the table cleared. Karl and I headed back upstairs and ended up crashing pretty early.

Monday morning we were up and out and over to campus. We might not have done any jogging while we were in Vegas, but we had certainly done enough running around that our jogging didn't suffer any for it today. Gordon and Aiden had spent the week at Gordons again so there wasn't much for them to tell. Karl and I regaled them with our exploits from the last week and soon enough our laps were done.

So it was back to the apartment and getting ready for the day.

"I'm going to spend some time at the rec center today Karl, so I'll be getting home a little later than usual."

"Kind of expected it with the allday on Saturday."

"Yeah, well I want to loosen up a bit before the practice tomorrow."

"Yeah I expect Coach Warren will be running you guys hard."

"With only two weeks to get ready I would think so."

So we were off to classes, which for me went pretty smoothly today. Mr Mcembers did ask if we had a good time in Vegas, and I told him about Thunder From down Under. He told me to get on my way. It was over to the student union for my regular lunch and bench time.

Pete and Susan stopped by for a few.

"So how was your trip?"

"We had a great time. I'll post some of the photos tonight."

"What shows did you see?"

"The one I liked the best was the Wayne Newton show."

"I didn't know he was still performing."

"He's as good as ever Susan."

At which point they had to get on their way to a class. I finished eating and made my way over to my final class. Then it was over to the rec center. I didn't hit the apparatus room, but just did a general workout before hitting the pool and whirlpool. Greg and Josh were there.

"Hey Den, have a good break?"

"Yeah Vegas was a blast even without the clubing or gambleing."

"We just stayed at home and kicked back. Figured with finals and the all state not that far off to relax while we had the chance. Have you seen Coach today?"

"No I just did a general workout to loosen up for tomorrow. Why, what's up?"

"I don't know that anything is up, just coach seemed like he had something on his mind."

"Could have nothing to do with the team."

"I suppose so. Just not like him to not be focused on the team."

"I'm sure we'll hear about it soon enough if it has something to do with us."

"So what was your biggest kick in Vegas?"

"Racing a Lamborghini."

"Say what?"

"Yeah, it was damn expensive, but Karl and I both got a real charge out of it. Only ten laps, but I was starting to get really comfortable with the car."

"So going to get one?"

"Nope, I've got no place to 'let it out' if I did. I seem to get in enough trouble as it is."

"Yeah I imagine it would be to damn easy with a car like that. Well we're out of here."

"See you tomorrow."

I only stayed a few more minutes before I called it quits and hit the showers. I gave Karl his heads up call, checked the car over and headed home.

"So how was your day Den?"

"About what you'd expect for a Monday."

"About?"

"Josh and Greg were concerned about coach not really paying attention."

"That doesn't sound good."

"I suppose that depends on just what the problem might be. Not necessarily a team thing."

"Yeah I suppose. I'm sure coach will have seomething to say tomorrow if it is."

"I'm sure. Supper almost ready?"

"Yeah in 5."

I got the table set and once we were done and things were cleaned up I went and got the memory card out of the camera and posted some of the pictures to my Facebook. Then it was on to my imaginary portfolio that I hadn't looked at in over a week.

Things still seemed solid there, so I just kicked back for the rest of the night.

Tuesday morning and we were up and at it again. Once we got back from jogging and Karl was off to his classes, I got a bit of work done around the apartment and when 11 rolled around I headed into the practicum.

It was the usual 15 minute discussion and then reviews.

"No changes Dennis?"

"No sir."

"Then I'll see you Thursday."

I went over to the student union for my lunch and while I was sitting on tthe bench Devon and Carlton stopped by.

"Saw those pics you posted to Facebook Dennis. Those were some sweet cars."

"Yeah racing those was a blast!"

"Did the casino guys give you much grief for being under 21?"

"We avoided the casinos as much as possible, so no they didn't bother us. If there is a next time though, well we'll see about the casinos."

"Next time? Once wasn't enough?"

"Hey we packed in a lot of stuff, but there was still a shitload we didn't see. Vegas is kinda like Disney last year. A week just isn't enough."

"We'll take your word for it den. We've got to get."

I sat there for a bit longer and then headed over to the rec center. I got changed up and went out on the floor and stretched. Today was a mandatory practice so I knew the guys would be showing up in short order.

Once we were all there, coach called us in, not looking to happy.

"Alright guys, some of you may have heard about this already. I got notice when I got back here yesterday that our last meet with Dresmire is under review."

"Which means exactly what coach?"

"No idea at this point. Somebody could have filed a complaint, some official may have had seconds thoughts on one of his calls, hell any number of things."

"So how will that affect us? We already lost the meet."

"If it is something actionable we could get disqualified from the all state."

"So how long do we have to sweat this out coach?"

"It could be over this week or it could drag on right up until the all state and even beyond that."

I could see what was going through the guys minds, just as it was going through mine. So much work put into the season not to make it to the allstate.

"Coach, what are the chances somebody put this in motion just to screw with us?"

"The thought had crossed my mind Dennis."

"Then let's treat it that way. This is just a bunch of bullshit to screw with our heads. WE all know we did nothing wrong, so this might just as easily be something against Dresmire and we're just being notified that something is going down."

"Dennis happens to be right. This could simply be a notification and the action is against Dresmire. We'll just have to wait to find out. Now get it out of your heads and let's see how much work we have to do in the next two weeks."

Everybody got right to it and coach had us work in team format today so he could see everybody. A couple of hours later he called us in.

"Ok you guys look pretty good out there. We should be in fine shape for the meet. Stay healthy, keep your studies up. The year is almost over and now would be a hell of a time to screw up."

I hit the pool for a few laps before I made my way back to the whirlpool. Dana was there when I got there.

"So, what do you think is going on Dennis?"

"Hell if I know Dana. Like I said, I'm hoping it is just a nuisance suit to screw with our heads."

"And if it isn't?"

"Then we deal with it. Like was said, this could well be something going against Dresmire and we were notified as a courtesy."

"You really believing that?"

"Yeah, I pretty damn sure we didn't do anything that might cause an action against us."

"Yeah I can't think of anything either."

"Put it out of your mind Dana, until we hear something definite."

"Yeah I suppose."

"Hey well I'm thikking of it, did you ever make that suggestion to have seperate rooms for the guys that week before the all state?"

"I did and Dean Evans said they would consider it."

"Guess that's better than no."

"Still better than a month to worry about that. At least you'll have Karl around this year."

"Strange idea, but how about arranging some activities for the team for that week?"

"Like what?"

"I don't know, maybe a bowling party or something, but make it voluntary. Maybe a trip out to the state park for a horseback ride? Hell there must be any number of things to do. Better than just sitting here twiddling our thumbs. I'm sure enough guys have cars that we could get everybody interested around."

"I'll talk to coach about it and see what he thinks. It could make things a lot more tolerable."

"Hey I'm even willing to drop a grand into a slush fund if it comes down to financing it."

"I'll tell him, but not the guys if he goes for it. Some of the guys might feel they were sponging off you."

"You could always tell them if came from an alumni as I'll be technically graduated by then."

"You hope."

"I've got little doubt Dana."

"Yeah I suppose so."
