"So it seems lover. Are you sure you want to complicate your life that way? I doubt it like hell, but does that give him any claims against your parents estates?"

"Who cares? I HAVE A BROTHER! I may still have other family! It's to late to be calling the lawyers tonight. First thing in the morning I'll call them and hope they can at least get things rolling before we head back to school."

"Calm down lover. It's just as likely that you don't,except for your twin. Hell he may not want to be found. He might not even know that you exist!"

"He probably doesn't,otherwise we probably would already have heard from him. Given that letter I can't see mom and dad keeping him from me if he had come looking."

"Again lover, if he even knows you exist. Hell you only just found out afterall. If he was adopted his fosters might not have told him at all. He could well be as in the dark about the whole thing as you were. Den, if you do find him,how is that going to affect us?"

"I suppose that is going to depend on him. I hope he can accept us. If he doesn't, well that will sure as hell put a strain on things but we'll still be together as far as I'm concerned."

"Think we should go over and put the parents minds at ease?"

"We probably should."

We were out the back door and over to Karls house within a few minutes. When we told Stan and Gert it looked like you could have knocked them over with a feather.

"We had no idea Dennis. You've been here since tha day we moved in. Karl doesn't remember I'm sure as he was only a few months old at the time."

"I thought as much. I couldn't see you knowing and not have said anything all of this time. Well first thing in the morning I'm calling the lawyers and getting them on the trail."

"Are you sure that is such a wise choice Dennis?"

"I'm sorry Stan, but I think it is the only choice. For the last year I thought you guys were the only family that I was ever going to have and now I find out I have, at the very least, a brother. If he is still alive I have to find him and any other family that might still be out there."

"You just need to be damn careful Dennis. There are all kinds of charlatans out there that will claim anything and try to take you for everything."

"I understand that Stan and the lawyers will damn happy well vet anybody and everybody making any such claim before I even talk to them."

"I hope to hell this doesn't end up biting you in the ass Dennis."

"Me three. Don't worry Stan. I'm going to have the lawyers check people out thirteen ways to Sunday. I'm betting there isn't any legal recourse for them to get anything out of this. What was left to me was from a source that to them wasn't related. Might I have to put up with everybody showing up with their hand out anyway? Yeah it's a good possibility, but I'm not that soft a touch and you know it."

"I do Dennis, but the potentiality for you getting hurt in oh so many different ways is too great to ignore."

"It's called life Stan, and I have to live it as it comes."

"Well I can see there's no use in trying to talk you out of this young man, just be damned careful."

"Does that mean I might have a third brother Dennis?"

"Bobby I have no idea. If I do have a brother out there I'd hope that he will accept my extended family, but I can't make any promises. Hell, he may not even want to have anything to do with me."

It was a real possibility and one I had to prepare myself for.

It finally got to the point that Karl and I, along with everybody else, finally went to bed. I thought I was much to excited to sleep, but I finally did drop off.

Soon enough the alarm was going off and I rolled out of bed along with Karl. We changed into our jogging stuff and headed out. Roland and Aaron could tell there was something up just by the look on my face.

"What's going on Den?" | "Oh just all kinds of good stuff. First we can stop looking over our shoulders. The police caught the guys yesterday that have been causing me all of this grief. Turned out to be Larrys father afer all."

"You said first, what's second?"

"It turns out I was adopted and that I may well have a twin brother."

"WHAT?!?!?"

"I'm calling the lawyers after breakfast and seeing what they can do about it. So let's get this show on the road."

We took off down the street to the park and got our laps in and then headed back to Karls house. We showered and had breakfast and while Stan went off to work Karl and I went back over to my house. While we waited for 9am to roll around I made copies of all of the documents that dad had left me and tucked the originals back in the safe.

I then proceeded to tell Mrs Ohanlon what was going on.

"Well boyo I ope you know what you be doing. You think when you be finding this other lad that you'll be bringing him home?"

"I've no idea Mrs Ohanlon. He does afterall have his own life going on."

"I suppose that be the truth of that. Well I wish ya luck then boyo."

"Thank you Mrs Ohanlon."

Soon enough it was 9 am and I called the lawyers and Mr Benson told me to come right on down.

Karl and I got into the Triumph and headed to the lawyers offces. I presented my findings to Mr Benson and he looked everything over.

"Well I must say Dennis that your father never breathed a word of this to me. If there is such a brother you are right in assuming that he nor any other member of his family, natural or otherwise, has any claim against your parents estates. I'll get our investigators looking into things and I'll keep you posted. I'm assuming you will want as much background on anyone we turn up as possible?"

"Oh most certainly. I want anybody you turn up subject to the deepest background scan that you can, within the law of course."

"Of course. Well I'll take these copies and have the investigators dig up what they can. I take it you are hoping to find this alleged brother?"

"Indeed I am, and any other family that might be lurking out there."

"We'll do what we can Dennis. Have a good New Years."

"You too sir."

Karl and I were soon on our way back to my house, and it was thankfully an uneventful drive.

So it was Tuesday the 30th and we still had 3 and a half days to kill before we had to head back to school, and every minute of it I would be waiting for the phone to ring.

"Are we just going to sit around waiting for the phone to ring for the next 3 days?"

"I'm open to suggestions Karl."

"We could finish what started this whole mess and get your parents room cleaned out and start moving you in."

"I suppose we could."

We spent the afternoon boxing up all of mom and dads casual wear to be donated at one place and their formal wear would end up going to a different place eventually. Pictures were moved to the office and those items that I decided to keep were placed back in the dresser drawers.

I gave Mrs Ohanlon instructions to give the room a through cleaning and to change out the linens. The set of sheets that were on the bed I didn't want in the house.

Karl and I went over to his house for supper and eventually we crashed out for the night.

5:45 came along as expected and we were out to jog with Roland and Aaron. We went down and ran our laps and were back to Karls, all uneventfully. Now it was just the rest of the day to worry about. True New Years Eve was only hours away and we intended on staying at Karls house for the evening, but the day was spent hanging at mine as unrealistic as it was that the lawyers would call with anything.

Mrs Ohanlon had completed cleaning the room and switching out the bedding, so after lunch Karl and I stated moving my things in there.

The first time I went into the bathroom to wash my hands I realized I hadn't bothered to clean the stuff out of there. Another chore I wasn't particularly looking forward to. I mean I didn't really need to go through my moms "feminine products." Dads stuff wasn't that bad.

Eventually we had just about everything moved in there. When it came time for Mrs Ohanlon to leave I told her not to bother coming back until the following week. That I would be stayhng at Karls until it was time to head back to school.

We were back over to Karls at this point after I had made sure to lock my house up. It was dinner and then in front of the tv for the usual year end specials and we watched the ball drop. Where it was just the family we didn't bother to hide in the back of the room but just kissed each other right thre on the couch with Gert and Stan.

After staying up until after midnight, we slept in for a change. We ended up watching the parades in the morning and football in the afternoon.

I went over to my house after supper and just made sure to get whatever I needed back to school packed and Karl brought his stuff over as well.

The night was peacefully enough spent and Karl and I were up for our jogging with Roland and Aaron. It was down the street and to the park and we were on our way back to the house when a patrol car slid up beside us. It was Dana Pembrose.

"Happy new year guys. Heading back to school soon?"

Happy New Year Dana, yeah in a couple of hours I would think."

"Well just take it easy out there. Coming home for spring break?"

"Haven't decided yet. Depends on how things pan out."

"Things?"

"I found out the other day that I might have a twin brother out there somewhere."

"Say what?"

"You heard me. I've got the lawyers digging into it."

"Dennis, be damned careful."

"Yeah I've already gotten the routine from the lawyers and Karls dad. I have no intention of being taken advantage of and I'm not even going to talk to people until the lawyers tell me they're squeaky clean."

"Sounds like a sensible plan to me Dennis. You just be damned careful. I can't say it enough."

"I will Dana I promise."
