"Shit the fat is in the fire now."

"What?"

"I need to see Dean Evans tomorrow. I spouted off at somebody today and I know at least one person got it on their phone. The Dean asked me to keep a low profile and I blew it all to hell I think. It has got to be all over the net by now, and likely the news outlets have picked it up."

"Did you say anything untrue or hateful?"

"I don't think I did, but I can't say how others will interprut what I said or how the media might manipulate it."

"You really don't like the media do you love?"

"Does it show? Lately they seem to use stuff out of context or lead into it to make it seem that some other question is being answered and it can be damn misleading sometimes. I'm not even going to go looking tonight as I sure as hell don't need the added aggrevation."

"I heard that lover. Let me get something going for supper."

WE had our meal and eventually crashed out.

Tuesday morning and we were at it again. There was only about half the reporters out front this morning that there had been yesterday. They got the same silent treatment and by our third lap around the block were gone. So back into the apartment and showered and fed. Karl headed out to his class and I hung around the apartment until it was time to head in for my own class.

It was the usual 15 minute discussion and then the reviews and I was last in line.

"Well Mr Sawyer I see you didn't bail on this one stock after the dip in their bottom line."

"Same type of situation as before sir. They have a large claim payout this time each year. I think their dividend will far outweigh the small decline in their stock value."

"I do believe that you ar right Mr Sawyer. Have yourself a good day."

I thought to myself that it wasn't likely to be with my upcoming visit to the Deans Office.

I just made my way over there and took the seat Mrs Humboltd indicated.

It wasn't long before Dean Evans opened his office door.

"Mr Sawyer if you please. Have a seat young man. I saw that little speech you made yesterday. I'm actually a bit impressed at it. I don't know if it was planned or not, and I don't want to. You got your point across without rancor. Be that as it may it isn't the real reason I called you in today.

Mr Summers has let it be known that he is ready to make his decision. He hasn't revealed it to me as yet, but I wanted you to have a heads up whichever way it falls."

"I appreciate that sir. He gave no indication at all?"

"Not that I could see. He will be holding a press conference tomorrow at 4pm in the main auditorium. However it should happen to fall, I'm recommending that you avoid the area and be extra cautious."

"I shall sir. Who else are you advising?"

"I've and appointment with Mr Houser of your fraternity a bit later. You are of course free to advise anyone you see fit to."

"Thank you sir. I've exceeded my 30 minutes sir. Do I need anything to keep out of trouble?"

"I'll give you a pass to show anybody who stops you. Just head directly off campus though."

"Not to push my luck sir, but how are things looking for the sports teams?"

"Everything is still suspended. It will be until after we see what type of reaction there is to the press conference tomorrow."

"I understand sir. Thank you."

I got the pass from Mrs Humboltd and went out and checked the car and then headed straight off campus. When I got back to the apartment, I called everybody concerned and gave them a heads up. I even called Mr McEmbers even though the club wasn't opened back up yet. I was hoping to hell that everything would end up being peaceful after this but knew damn happy well that this could be the straw that broke the camels back.

Karl got home a bit later and I told him what the Dean had said.

"Sounds like tomorrow night and Thursday at the very least are going to be a bitch."

"To say the least. Think I need to give the Castanzas a heads up as well?"

"Yeah you probably should. At the very least there's going to be a bunch of reporters around again on Thursday morning."

"I'm betting they'll be there before we get home from classes tomorrow. Of course I'll be home before the press conference. You need to be extra careful love. Your last class is during the conference."

"Yeah unless the Dean calls it an early day in anticipation."

"Always a possibility lover. Regardless be damn careful."

"Yeah you're starting to rub off on me Den. I'm looking around more before I leave a building and going over the car more thoroughly before I get in."

"Yeah and I'm betting tomorrows press conference is only going to make things worse. Summers finds in favor of the frat and I'm sure all hell is going to break loose."

I made a quick trip to advise the Castanzas and then we eventually got around to having supper and did a little school work until it was time to crash. Not that I got a hell of a lot of sleep. No I tossed and turned a good portion of the night.

When the alarm went off I really didn't want to get up, but I did. I went to the front window to check the street and there didn't appear to be any reporters out there this morning.

"Looks like we get a pass this morning Karl."

"I don't think either one of us is up for this today lover."

"Probably not, but let's do it anyway. Tomorrow is liable to be a hell of a lot different."

"Shit, I just thought. Do we need to give my parents and Mrs Ohanlon a heads up?"

"Damn, and probably everybody else at home as well. Too early at this point to be calling people. Do it when we get back from jogging."

So we got changed and headed out and this morning we were left alone. We got home and while Karl was in the shower I got on the phone. I got Karls parents first.

"I've been expecting a call from either of you boys Dennis."

"Well this is it Stan. The arbitor for the frat cases is having a press conference this afternoon. I'm calling just so you can prepare for just in case."

"I appreciate it Dennis, and we've been prepared, as have Mrs Ohanlon, Aaron, Roland, and all of your friends. I'll spread the word around here that it is all likely to come to a head this evening."

"Thanks Stan. That makes my life a whole lot easier. Take it easy and be damn careful the next couple of days."

"You and Karl as well Dennis."

"Count on it Stan."

The next call was to the office as I knew Stan Bellows was likely to be there shortly if he wasn't already.

"I figured I'd be hearing from you soon Dennis. I take it things are about to come to a head?"

"Very likely as there is going to be a press conference today at 4 which is deciding the case for the frat."

"Well precautions are all in place and I'll give the whole place the heads up this morning."

"Anybody feels uncomfortable or threatened by coming to work I want them to get sick leave benefits until they either come back or give notice."

"I'll take care of it Dennis. You guys be damned careful."

"Hey my paranoid meter is pegged well past maximum Stan."

"Time for a new meter I think."

"I've got to get it in gear Stan. I still have classes afterall, well at least for today."

I hung up and had one last call to make, this one to Dana Pembrose.

"Hello Dennis. I expect I know why you're calling, and we have addressed the situation already."

"Thanks Dana. There's a press conference this afternoon at 4 so that might give you a little better timing for whatever you guys have planned."

"We'll be keeping our eyes open Dennis, not just your house but your friends as well."

"Thanks Dana. I have to get it in gear."

I hung up and then ducked into the shower and we had a light breakfast. Neither one of us really felt like eating. Then it was off to class. Once again there were reporters around the main gate trying to get a comment, and once again I ignored them.

I got parked and made my way over to Investment Vehicles. The loudmouth from Monday was there and he just glared at me without saying a word. Yeah I imagined that a lot of students were feeling pent up at this point being several days into the lockdown.

The class was gotten through with a minimum of angst and then it was over to the tax class with Mr Mcembers. There were a few looks there that I didn't particularly care for, but once again nothing was said. I stopped once class was over.

"Did you get the word about todays press conference?"

"I did Dennis and precautions have been taken both at home and at the club. Are you expecting trouble?"

"If the decision comes down in favor of the frat, I'm expecting civil war. The meatheads who are behind all of this aren't going to take being told that they don't have a leg to stand on very lightly. They've tried intimidation, they've tried the legal system. That doesn't leave them with a lot of choices except action."

"I hope to hell you're wrong Dennis."

"So do I. Now I know you have a class to get to."

"Quite right."

I was off to the Student union to grab a quick lunch. Aiden and Gordon caught up to me.

"You guys got your asses covered in case this all goes sideways later?"

"Hell this last week we've gotten almost as paranoid as you Den, so have Paul and Cameron."

"Good just be extra careful after this damn press conference. I've got a feeling that this is going to be the straw that breaks the camels back."

"I think everybody is going to be dealing with the fallout from this for the rest of the school year."

"Very likely Aiden. Just watch your damn backs for the next couple of days."

They had to get on their way and so did I.

Risk/Rewards seemed to fly by today and when I got out of class I noticed that there were a hell of a lot of campus security around. Dean Evans it seemed was getting ready for the worst as well.
