"Well not like we're going to hear anything about it for a while, so try and put it out of your head for now love. We have just a week to relax and recharge our batteries."

"Yeah I know lover, but this will be at the back of my mind until I know those folks are safe and well taken care of."

"Shit Den that might not happen for weeks or even months. Red tape takes time."

"Yeah it does, unless somebody lights a hot flame under somebodies ass."

"Dennis Sawyer you listen to me! Damnit I do NOT intend to become a part of some damn media circus over this. We've damn sure had enough of THAT!"

"Okay okay, I'll back off. It was just a thought. I am going to keep my eyes open however."

"Fine just keep us out of the damn papers."

"Does that mean I can go to the tv stations?"

"Dennis..........."

"Just kidding lover."

"Suppers ready boyos!"

We went and had our supper and then after I had hit the excercise room again crashed out in front of the tube until it was time to call it a night.

Next morning it was the usual routine and after we were cleaned up and fed Karl just looked at me.

"Well what are we up to today lover?"

"I'm open to suggestions lover."

"Well we don't really need anything so no sense in hitting the mall. We could hit the trails."

"We'd have to take Bobby as well. We haven't spent a lot of time with your family this trip."

"We really need to find something that Connie can do too."

"Which leaves us with what?"

"Not a hell of a lot that would interest us or Bobby."

"We took Bobby last week so it's only fair we take Connie to something this week and give Bobby the option."

"That pretty much assures that we're either going shopping or to one of the museums, or both."

"Neither of which would kill us I suppose."

"Well let's get over to your house and see which it is going to be."

So it was out the back door and through the gate and into Karls house.

"Good morning boys. I was hoping I could prevail upon you two to watch Bobby today? Connie and I are going to the mall to try and make a couple of exchanges and maybe pick up a few things."

"Not a problem mom. Is there anything he needs to be doing today?"

"Not that I am aware of Karl."

Bobby came into the kitchen at that point.

"Good news Bobby, you won't have to go to the mall with us. You get to hang out with your brother and Dennis."

An announcement which brought a smile to Bobby's face.

"Then what are we going to do today?"

"What would you like to do Bobby?"

"Can we go to the arcade? I haven't been there in I couldn't tell you how long."

"Sounds like a plan to me. We still have a couple of hours to kill before the place opens though."

"I still need to clean up my room before I can go Dennis."

"Then best get to it young man."

Bobby took off for his room and Karl and I just settled waiting for him to finish. When Bobby was done with his room we still had time to kill. So it was outside to toss around a football for a while.

Eventually it was almost time for the arcade to open and we went across to my place and piled into the Toyota and headed out. Traffic wasn't that bad and the parking lot for the arcade was fairly empty.

So it was inside and a pocketful of tokens was gotten and Bobby went to town. We pretty much just kept an eye on him and what was going on. Karl and I hit a few games just to help add to Bobbys prize ticket bundle.

I did notice a familiar looking kid and when I saw him make way for a littler kid I knew who it was. It was Derek from when I had first woken up, but it looked like he had grown damn near 5 inches since then. He looked in our direction at that point and just waved.

"I doubt like hell anybody is pushing him around anymore."

"Probably not, and it doesn't look like he's taking advantage of it for himself either. I wonder if you had anything to do with that?"

"I might have planted the seed love, but he was the one to see it grow."

Bobby was all over the place and we eventually headed outside to the go karts. Bobby was only old enough to get on the basic karts at this point, but he did finish 3rd in his heat of 10. Karl and I both hit the top level karts and this time Karl beat me out for 2nd.

So it was back inside to the snack bar and Karl and I got to speak to Jason, who was still general manager, for a few minutes. Nothing earth shattering, just catching up.

Bobby was off to the skeeball alley. By now he had quite a collection of payoff tickets and it was time to go and get them counted up. That took us a good few minutes to feed them into the counting machine.

Then it was off to the prize counter. That took a good half hour for Bobby to decide what he wanted. Then it was the ride home and we got there after Gert and Connie, but before Stan got home.

"So it seems you boys all had a good day."

"Yeah we did mom. I got to ride the gokarts and I came in 3rd! And Karl finally beat Denny."

Gert gave me a bit of a look.

"We were racing different levels Gert. Bobby was on the basic karts."

"I should hope so."

Stan got home at this point.

"Evening everyone. Dennis, anything going on at your office?"

"Not that I know of, why?"

"Got a request for an executive secratary this afternoon."

"Only thing I can think of is that Mrs Hines has decided to retire, but she didn't say anything about it at the Christmas party. It can wait until Monday. Not going to bother Mr Bellows at home for that."

"You boys have any plans for tonight?"

"Not that I'm aware of dad."

"Then do you mind hanging here tonight while we have a bit of a night on the town?"

"Not a problem as far as I'm concerned Stan."

"Me either dad."

"I'll call out for a pizza for Bobby and Connie, as I expect Mrs Ohanlon has something just about done for you two at this point."

"We'll be back over as soon as we can."

Karl and I headed over to the house and Stan was right on.

"Was just about ready to be looking for ya."

We ate quickly and then beat feet back over to watch Bobby and Connie.

Just to be spending time with them both, we ended up playing a board game that went on for quite a bit longer than it should have. Even though they were on school vacation, Bobbie and Connie still had a bedtime. We shooed them off to bed and not much later Gert and Stan got home. We bid them a good night and headed back over to our house. It was late enough that we decided to just call it a night and we sacked out.

Saturday morning and the usual roust and we were out and at the corner. Aaron and Roland got to us and we headed down to the park to get our laps in. On the way back Dana pulled up beside us.

"Morning boys, how is everybody doing?"

"As well as can be expected Dana."

"I heard that. You all staying in for New Years?"

"More than likely Karl and I are."

"Yeah I've got no plans."

"Neither do I this year. I don't even have an event I have to oversee this year."

"Party business slowing down Roland?"

"Maybe just a little Dennis."

"Well regardless you all have a safe New Year."

"You too Dana."

He drove off to continue his patrol and we each headed for our houses.

Karl and I hit the shower and had a bit of breakfast.

"So what are we going to do today?"

"Hell if I know Den. I suppose you could always take a ride over to Edgeton and get a really good workout in."

"I could but that kinda leaves you hanging with nothing to do."

"I can cope Den, but you have a meet the end of the month."

"Yeah and plenty of time to get ready for it once we're back to campus."

"Yeah, maybe. We don't know if there is going to be any bullshit waiting for us when we get back."

"True enough, but it was damn quiet when we left and I have no reason to believe it will be any different once we get back, and if it is we will deal with it just as we have all frigging year."

"Yeah I suppose we will. So, too early to start thinking about spring break?"

"I'd just as soon stay home Karl. I'll be looking at my finals a week earlier than usual so I can be with the graduating class. That's going to leave me with 2 weeks to kill before the allstate, and one of those I'll need to spend the evenings on campus."

"Yeah but at least we'll have the days together Den. I was kinda hoping to get away for the week though and just relax."

"We can do that perfectly well right here lover, and probably save ourselves a pretty penny as well."

"Not like we're hurting for it Den."

"No but there's no need to be blowing it either. It would only take one really bad year to wipe out a lot of my supposed wealth and then where would we be?"

"Building back I'm sure love. But hey the house is paid for so there will be a roof over our heads. That and a little food and we don't need a lot more than that."

"I suppose not, but I'd much rather nor have to deal with it."

We ended up spending time with Bobby and Stan tossing a football around for a good part of the afternoon. Karl and I had gone back to our house after supper and had just about settled down for the night when the phone rang. I went and answered it.

"Mr Sawyer?"

"Yes?"

"This is Atech Security. We have an alarm sounding at you building. Mr Bellows and the police have both been notified."
