After that conversation, I gave Karl a quick heads up and then headed for the apartment.

Dinner was ready when I got there and after that it was a quiet night.

Sunday and the usual routine was seen to and Karl and I were back in the apartment. We had our showers and breakfast and settled down to do some class work. I had been keeping a close eye on the European energy market and today was no exception. It was pretty obvious somebody was moving on the market, and I still couldn't find out who was behind it.

I finally gave up for the day and just crashed out until it was time to get ready for supper with the Castanzas. I did hear a car pull in and checked just to be sure it was Paul and Cameron.

We were soon enough downstairs and helped set the table as always. Dinner was decidely quiet tonight. I hoped to hell that didn't signal a problem between Paul and Cam.

After we had helped get things cleaned up Karl and I headed for the apartment.

"Dennis, can we come up for a few?"

"Fine by me Den."

"Yeah sure."

We got into the apartment an got the door closed.

"OK what's up?"

"We.......we need some advice."

"We'll do what we can, so spit it out."

"I told you how I feel about Cameron Dennis. I've shared those feelings with him."

"Yeah and though I've thought about it, I have my reservations. I know you guys have made it work and you know I don't have any gripes with other gay guys, I'm just not sure it's what I want for me."

"Guys this is going to sound harsh but, the only way to find out is to try. That doesn't mean to go off someplace and screw just for the hell of it."

I knew Paul got what I was saying as we had worked that out last semester.

"Work your way up to it and be honest with each other. Above all, if it doesn't work out, don't be bitter about it. Try and stay friends at least. That's the best I can do for you guys. Slow and easy and either one of you can say stop and it ends."

"This sounds awfully familiar Dennis."

"Does that make it wrong Paul?"

"No I don't suppose it does and it did work out last time."

"Last time?"

"He gave me that same advice a few months ago when I was trying to decide if I was gay or not."

I was relieved that Paul didn't elaborate any more than that. Karl knew, but I didn't think that Cameron would have liked knowing it was me who brought Paul around.

"So anything else guys?"

"Well.... I've heard rumors about one of my professors and was wondering if you guys knew anything."

"What professor and what rumors?"

"McEmbers. I heard that not only is he gay, but he owns a gay club downtown."

"I'll neither confirm nor deny those rumors. I don't know if either of you is taking Ethics this term, but if you are you get the point."

They both turned to Karl.

"Yeah what he said."

"You two are a big help."

"Paul, if we had heard something about your dad would you wantus spreading it around?"

"No I suppose not."

"Anyway you're both old enough that you can check out the club if you want."

"Yeah I don't think I'm ready for that Den. You could always go by yourself Paul."

"I could but I won't. I know you two won't be going anytime soon. How about Gordon and Aiden?"

"All you can do is ask, though if you're intending to go to the gymnastics meet next Saturday, I'd leave that for at least the next weekend."

"We were thinking about it, but I don't like driving long distance."

"Then take the bus. There is probably a sign up sheet somewhere on the college digital board, or see if there is anybody going over that's willing to take you."

"Hell I'll drive you guys as long as we take your car Paul. I mean mine is only a two seater after all."

"Sounds like a plan to me Karl. You know the way or should we follow the bus?"

"Follow the bus. They usually leave about 7 so I'll see you guys about 6:30 and no jogging."

"Works for me. Cam?"

"Hell yeah. I've always wanted to see Dennis perform, especially after hearing about how the team took the all state this year."

"Yeah I'm expecting our turnout to be really immense this year, though it was pretty good last year after the buses got rolling."

"Well I don't know about you guys but I've got stuff I have to get ready for classes tomorrow."

"You and me both roomie."

"Okay, we'll see you in the morning for jogging."

"Count on it."

Paul and Cam left at that point and Karl just looked at me, the question in his eyes.

"I don't know lover,they may well have a chance."

"I just hope it doesn't fall through. That would make for one long ass semester."

"That it would. Best we can do is stay out of it and hope we all stay friends."

The next couple of hours was spent getting class work done and soon after that the lights went out.

Monday morning was the usual routine and classes followed. I headed home after classes without going over to the rec center as there was a mandatory practice tomorrow.

When I got home I checked the European markets again. Whoever was certainly trying to consolidate their holding. I checked the rest of my portfolio and was satisfied with the results. I checked the fridge to see what,if anything, was defrosted for supper. There wasn't anything. I checked the freezer to see what was in there that could be cooked frozen. There was a lasagna, but that took over an hour. Nothing else presented itself. So it was back to basics. A can of a good hearty vegtable beef soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

The dishes were taken care of in short order and it was classwork for Wednesday taken care of. I sure as hell wasn't going to be in the mood to do it tomorrow night.

Lights out and I snuggled into bed with Karl.

Tuesday morning and we were up and out once again and soon enough back to the apartment to shower and eat. Then Karl was back to campus and I read for a couple of hours before I headed in. As usual there was about 15 minutes of discussion and then the reviews started. I wasn't scheduled for today so I went out and got a quick sandwich and then found a place to relax until the apparatus room would be open at 4.

Pete it seemed knew right where to find me.

"Hey Den. Think you guys got this one sewn up?"

"Chances seem pretty good but we don't know what they may have in the way of new talent."

"And what about our new talent?"

"They're damn good, but for this week at least they're going as our alternates."

"They ever going to get their shot?"

"Yeah the coaches are going to rotate things around after they seem how things go in real competition."

"That sounds like it is going to prove interesting."

"It might. You and Suze going over to the meet?"

"Yeah wouldn't miss it,thought I told you that last week. When you're involved there always seems to be something interesting happening."

"I hope not. I could well do without all of the intrigue from last year."

"I heard that. I got a class to get to, later."

I just hung around for a while and then I headed over to the rec center and got changed up. Soon enough we were all out to the floor and were stetrching out. This was a closed practice so when we got started I knew I was going to be throwing my triples today.

In team format we all went through our excercises. A few of the guys started trying to throw triples of their own. Seemed only Greg and Josh were having any luck with it,even if they didn't actually make it through.

"Okay you guys, I know you're all trying hard for the triples and it would be great if they happen, but for right now let me see your solid routines again."

So for some of the guys it was a run through of their routines once again. I was spared to watch the other guys as I had done my standard rountines.

Neither Gary, the coaches or I spotted anything that really needed correcting, and the practice came to an end. I went and got my bathing suit and did my usual laps and then headed for the whirlpool. Once again Greg and Josh were there.

"Think anybodyelse is going to be able to do a triple Den?"

"In our group? I don't know, but your attempts looked the best to me. Do us all a favor though and don't try to get them to the point you hurt yourselves. If you do get them down, do what I do with the coach and see if he thinks we need them to win the meet. Keeping something in reserve is always nice."

"Why don't you decide that for yourself?"

"Because in order to do that I'd have to be watching the board, which is something I never do during a competition. It ruins my concentration."

"Maybe we ought to try that Josh."

"Yeah I don't suppose that could hurt us. We going to see you for practice the rest of the week?"

"I doubt it. I might come by on Thursday for a general workout though. Don't let that stop you from working out though. Just have a spotter like coach demands, otherwise you piss him off and might find yourselves alternates all season."

"Shit Dennis we crazy not stupid."

"I hope to hell not."

We shortly got out and headed for the showers. I gave Karl a call and let him know I was on the way home. It was a quiet night and Wendesday turned out to be pretty normal as well.

Thursday was fairly normal as well. Even my portfolio review was pretty much pro forma. I went and grabbed a sandwich as I really didn't want to go to the weight room on an empty stomach.I walked a bit before I headed over to the rec center,as I knew I wouldn't have to wait for the weight room to open. I then made my way over to the rec center, and that's where normal ended. There was an ambulance out front.
